“Did you sleep at all?” Caden asked as Theo stepped out of his room.
Theo wasn’t sure when he fell asleep. Nightmares of fire and cages haunted him. He had been restless enough that Remington had abandoned the bed to sleep on the floor. That was unusual for the dog as it had always preferred to share the bed, but he couldn’t really blame it either.
Julius frowned, studying him as they gathered to head to breakfast before going to the hospital. He also knew something of what was going on in the young man’s head. After Macey left, Julius suffered nightmare after nightmare about her and the baby’s fate. It had gotten so bad that drinking himself to oblivion was the only way he knew to get any sort of sleep, but none of it had been restful or healthy.
