NINA'S POV
I scurried from my bed, taking a defensive stand a few feet from the intruder, Kai.
My wolf stirred inside me, restless and eager, but I forced my body to stay rigid, fists tightening at my sides.
"What are you doing here?" My voice was sharper than I intended.
He stepped out of the shadows, reducing the distance between us and I staggered backward, my wolf did not like that. She growled inside me, protesting the distance.
Kai lifted his hands in surrender, a lazy grin playing at his lips. "Relax, I’m not here to fight. I was just... curious."
I narrowed my eyes, fists still in place.
His eyes gleamed with something unrecognizable and his smile fell, a small frown replacing his laid back attitude. “It seems I can't stop thinking about you.”
