KAI'S POV
“Those damn beasts!” My father’s voice thundered through the chamber, his heavy steps echoing as he paced. Veins bulged at his temples, his fury crackling through the air like a storm about to break.
“How dare they? Growing bold, thinking they can bargain with me?” He slammed his fist onto the armrest of his golden chair. “A treaty? They should be grateful we haven’t burned them to the ground.”
A young delta, barely sixteen, dared to speak. “Alpha Xander, they only asked for a reduction in the protection fee, not a treaty.” His voice was careful, but that wouldn’t save him.
A mistake. A costly one.
My father stilled, turning toward the boy with predatory ease.
“Do you suggest I’m unreasonable?” His voice was quiet now, far more dangerous than his shouting.
