NINA’S POV My footsteps echoed through the corridor as I made my way toward Dr. Sarah’s office, each step amplifying the chaos in my head. She had told me that summer leaving wasn’t my fault, Beta grant had said the same thing but I couldn’t help but feel that way. I pushed the door open without knocking. “Dr. Sarah?” No response. My gaze scanned the room. Empty. I exhaled, stepping inside. She probably ran out on an errand. She did that sometimes… disappearing for hours without warning.
