NINA'S POV My boots squelched against the damp earth as I ran through the forest. The moon cast a lazy glow over the branches, painting the landscape in an eerie light. The wind whipped past me, carrying the scent of damp leaves and pine. I didn’t look back. I needed to get the hell out of here. My breath echoed in the quiet woods as I pushed my legs harder, though I had no idea where I was going. The trees blurred together, each one identical to the last. For all I knew, I was running in circles. I came to a stop, pressing my hands to my knees as I tried to catch my breath.
