SpriteThree sets of steps went from the top of the cliff down to the docks. The longest of these ran back and forth across the rock face, enabling a slower climb, presumably for those bearing goods. The other two, on either side, were narrower and more direct, useful for individuals who wanted to get down to the water as quickly as possible.
The Halvarian ships were lined up facing east, the better to enable them to put out to sea, considering the prevailing wind. The Sprite came close to the shore, then turned to port, resulting in a course that would take them down the line of warships.
