CHAPTER FOURNovella and Miss Graham stayed the first night of their journey home at the Posting inn not far outside London and they had to return the horses there anyway.
Because they were in a hurry, they set off early the next morning.
After the second night Novella picked up the horses that belonged to her father and she was delighted to find that they were as fresh and spirited as they usually were.
Because they knew that they were going home they moved very much faster than when they did on the way to London.
They turned in at the gates of Wentmore Hall at about six o’clock.
“That was a delightful drive!” Miss Graham exclaimed.
Novella had already asked her if she would prefer to go home first, but she wanted to see Lady Wentmore.
“I feel I have neglected her,” Miss Graham said
