Chapter 14 KAT HAD NO idea how she’d gotten home from Almack’s the previous night. All she had were brief flashes of memories—intense pain, comforting arms, and being tucked into bed. The following morning, her headache was gone, but her entire body felt sore. She was about to try to get up when there was a soft knock at her door. “Come in,” she called out, hoping it was her maid with a hot bath. She knew that if it had been her, she would have just come straight in without waiting for Kat to respond to her knock.
