Under the Mistletoe

The coldness of the doorknob sent a shiver up my spine as I turned it slowly, stepping into the dimly lit room. Adam sat on the edge of the bed, his head in his hands, the shadows from the bedside lamp casting harsh angles across his face. He looked up at me, his eyes tired but still burning with that unmistakable fire. “Elizabeth,” he started, his voice low, almost apologetic. But I held up a hand, silencing him before he could say more. “I’m not here to argue,” I said softly, crossing the room to stand in front of him. “And I’m not here to fix anything either. I just need you to listen. Just listen to me for a second” He raised an eyebrow, leaning back slightly, his arms folding across his chest. “I’m listening.” I sighed, kneeling in front of him, so he had no choice but to look directly at me. “Adam, do you remember why you fell in love with me?” The question caught him off guard. His gaze softened, and for a moment, I thought I saw the man I’d married, the man who once laughed with me under the stars and promised me the world. “Of course, I do,” he said finally, his voice quieter now. “Because you were beautiful, obedient, kind, humble, you were the perfect woman Beth, you were what i wanted, you never spoke back to me, but you were still fearless, i fell in love with you because you had this fire in you that I couldn’t ignore.” “Then why do you keep trying to extinguish that fire?” My voice cracked slightly, but I held my ground. “You say you love Amanda and me, but love doesn’t look like fear, Adam. It doesn’t feel like walking on eggshells or keeping quiet to keep the peace.” His jaw tightened, and for a moment, I thought he might snap back with another defense, but he didn’t. Instead, he stared at me, his expression unreadable. “I don’t know how to be anyone else,” he admitted after a long pause. “This is who I am, Elizabeth. You knew this when you fell in love with me, you knew this when you joined me on the altar and exchanged wedding vows with me, this is who i am and I can’t change that overnight.” “I’m not asking you to change who you are,” I said, reaching out to take his hands in mine. “I’m asking you to remember who we were before the weight of everything else got in the way. Before life became about control and appearances. We were a team, Adam. We fought together, not against each other.” He didn’t respond immediately. His gaze dropped to our intertwined hands, his thumb brushing over my knuckles absentmindedly. “It’s not that simple,” he said finally. “I know,” I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. “But we can try. For Amanda’s sake. For us.” He exhaled deeply, his shoulders slumping as if the fight had gone out of him. He looked at me deeply, and I knew I had ignited a different kind of flame in his eyes and in his body, I leaned into him and embraced him lifting myself up to sit on his strong legs. He adjusted himself to accommodate my weight and plunged his tongue into my mouth before I could make another thought. He was on fire, and he was trying to put that heat inside of me. Whatever he was fuelled by, be it rage or sadness, he made sure to show me all the passion I had missed from him. I grabbed a handful of his hair and kissed him deeper, exploring his mouth and enjoying the taste of his mouth Adam grabbed me by the neck, and I instantly let go of his hair. That was his way of telling me that he was in control now. He snatched away my robe from my body and used the sash to bind my hands together. Then he tossed me on the bed and angled his legs under mine while spreading them open. He kissed me all over my face, whispering sweet nothings to my ear before trailing his tongue and hot mouth down my body until he got closer and closer to my v****a. He gave my already erect c**t on long hard suck before nibbling her between his teeth. It was all so much. I automatically responded to his intense stimulation by coating his face with my love juices as my both jolted and spasmed from the orgasms. I tried to call out to him to tell him that I was ready for him, ready to take him, but he could tell. With a smooth, long thrust, he went into me, and the sounds of our skin slapping against each other filled the room. We were animals. We had lost all senses, f*****g away our frustrations, pouring them into ourselves in the form of our sweat, spit and c*m. Over and over again, until he dropped from the exhaustion. That was enough for now. It had to be. I stood after an hour of recovery, leaning down to kiss his forehead softly. “Goodnight, Adam,” I said, turning to leave the room before he could say anything else. As I closed the door behind me, I leaned against it, exhaling a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. The house was silent, save for the faint creak of the old wooden floors as I made my way to Amanda’s room. I found her curled up in bed, clutching her stuffed rabbit tightly. Her eyes fluttered open as I approached, and she looked up at me with the kind of innocence that made my heart ache. “Mummy?” she whispered sleepily. “Yes, my love?” I said, sitting on the edge of her bed and brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Are you and Daddy okay?” The question caught me off guard, but I forced a smile. “We’re working on it, sweetheart. Don’t you worry about us.” She nodded, her eyes already drifting shut again. I stayed there for a moment longer, watching her chest rise and fall with each steady breath. As I left her room and made my way back to the living room, I couldn’t shake the feeling that tonight had been a turning point. Whether it was for better or worse, only time would tell. For now, all I could do was keep trying—because that’s what love was supposed to be about, wasn’t it? Trying, even when it was hard. Especially when it was hard. And as the snow fell softly outside, blanketing the world in quiet, I allowed myself to hope that maybe, just maybe, we could find our way back to each other.
