Chapter 14: Deals in the Dark
And as midnight drew closer, secrets darker than Isabella’s betrayal were about to come to light.
Victor arrived at the docks, a gun tucked beneath his jacket and a storm brewing in his eyes.
The night air was thick with salt and fog, shadows slithering across rusted containers. Victor’s boots crunched on gravel as he made his way to the agreed meeting spot.
A figure stepped out from the mist — Angelo, one of Dante’s inner-circle men. But what was he doing here?
“You called for me?” Angelo’s voice was wary.
Victor didn’t waste time. “I know everything about Isabella. About her lover. About the plan to bleed Dante dry.”
Angelo’s eyes flickered. “And you didn’t tell Dante?”
“I tried. He burned the evidence because of that damn pregnancy. He won’t listen now. But if we work together, we can save him… and take down those snakes.”
Angelo hesitated, glancing around. “I’m listening.”
Victor handed over a flash drive. “This holds everything. Messages, bank account setups, escape plans. Ethan’s the rat. I intercepted a call — he’s planning something big before the baby comes.”
“Damn,” Angelo cursed under his breath.
“Will you help me?”
Angelo gave a slow nod. “For Dante.”
A sudden noise startled them. A shadow moved.
Victor spun, gun drawn. “Who’s there?”
Nothing.
But someone was listening. And that someone was Ethan’s desperate ally — a worker loyal to Isabella, who bolted into the night, phone already in hand.
Victor’s voice cut through the darkness. “No loose ends, Angelo. Find him before he talks.”
