Chapter 9: Unwanted Witness But neither of them noticed the shadow outside the window, watching them. The figure lingered in the darkness, eyes narrowed, lips curling in a cruel smirk. They’d seen enough. The tender kiss, the way Isabella responded, the tension thick between her and Dante. It was a game of fire and secrets — and someone out there was ready to burn them all. Inside, Isabella’s mind was a storm. The moment Dante’s lips claimed hers, her entire body betrayed her. She should’ve pushed him away. She should’ve thought about Ethan. About the plan. About everything that was at stake. But instead… she melted. His mouth was demanding, hungry, tasting of danger and sin. His hands, rough and warm, cupped her face as if she was the only thing that mattered in his world. And for a terrifying second… she wanted it. When they broke apart, both of them were breathless. Dante’s eyes searched hers, raw and unguarded. “I’ve tried to stay away from you, Isa,” he confessed, his voice ragged. “But I can’t. You’ve ruined me.” Isabella’s heart thundered. She hated herself for how those words made her feel. “I… Dante, I—” Before she could speak, her phone buzzed once more. Dante’s gaze snapped to it. “Who keeps messaging you?” Panic surged through her veins. She reached for it, but he was faster. Snatching the device from her grasp, his thumb scrolled through the messages. His face turned to stone as he read the damning words. Isabella’s stomach dropped. Dante didn’t say a word. He just stared at her, his expression unreadable. “Dante… please—” A soft knock at the door interrupted them. “Boss,” a guard’s voice called. “You need to see this. It’s urgent.” Dante’s jaw clenched. “Stay here,” he ordered coldly, storming out. Isabella had no idea that what waited outside would change everything.
