Chapter twenty-six - Secret place

Ellie's POV:

Another week just passed. Melinda hasn't bothered me so I am feeling good. Today I have nothing to do. I'll just chill and watch some TV. Scott said that he is busy, which means that I am alone. Mom and dad are going out tonight. Maybe I can eat some junk food since they are out or I can walk around the town, but it'll be during the day. I don't want the same thing to happen again. This time my best friend won't save me. 

I was laying on my bed when my phone started to ring. I looked up to see that it was Scott. 

- Hey Ellie, it's me. What are you doing?

- I know that it's you. I'm laying in bed watching TV shows. What about you? Weren't you busy today?

- I am, but tonight. I'm going out with some boys. I'm sorry that I cut you off. 

- It's ok. You can't stay with me every minute. 

- That's true, but I still love to spend time with you. Anyways, I want to make up for today, so tomorrow you need to free your day for me and no isn't acceptable. 

- I have nothing to do anyways. So what we'll do? 

- I can't tell you, but don't worry, you'll like it. I have planned the whole day. I'll tell you more when I come to take you tomorrow. 

- And when will be this? I mean do I have to wake up early?

- Leave this to me. I know what I am doing. 

- Every time when you say it I get worried. Nothing good comes after that. 

- Ok, that's so not true. When I have done something bad with you? When I had you in trouble?

- Well... never, but there is a first time for everything. 

- I promise you that nothing bad will happen and you know that I keep my promises when it comes to you. Will you stop worrying?

- Ok, ok. I'll trust you this time. 

- Nice. I'll go now to get ready for tonight and will leave you to watch your thing. Bye Ellie and see you tomorrow.

- Ok. Have a nice evening then and I'll see you soon. Bye Scott. - I said and end the call

Now I get curious about what we'll do tomorrow and where we'll go. I know that Scott won't bring me to a place, which I won't like. I just want us to chill and have fun. I hope that he knows what he is doing. Well, he is not a kid anymore so I'll trust him. I wish that we could repeat the dances. No matter that we weren't in school I still had a lot of fun that night. I can't believe that he danced with me in the rain. Someone else will call me crazy and leave, but my best friend will join me. 

Later I had dinner with myself and the TV show, which I was watching. I decided to bring my laptop to the backyard and watch it there. Some fresh air will be good. I don't know when mom and dad will come back, but it's not my business to tell them when to come home. They are adults. When it passed eleven, I went to bed. Since Scott will come and get me, I need to go to bed earlier. It would be better if he has told me when he'll take me. Tomorrow I'll find out. 

In the morning, I woke up with a kiss on my cheek. I opened my eyes to see my best friend. 

- Good morning princess. How did you sleep?

I got my pillow and threw it at him. Some people never learn. Scott caught it and threw it back at me. It's game on. Like that, we started a pillow fight. After around ten minutes we stopped. I looked at him with a mad expression. He laughed and pulled me for a hug. Damn it! I always fell under his spell. I hate you Scott Lincoln. 

- Get up and get dressed. We have to leave soon. 

- Will you tell me where are we going? What do I have to wear?

- We are going for breakfast. Just pick something comfy. The other things left to me. 

- Ok, if you say so. I hope that it's something good.

 I grabbed some clothes and went to change in the bathroom. When I came back into the room, my bed was done and there was a bag filled with things. 

- What is that in the bag? How many things did you take?

- I took everything, which you will need. Now, fewer questions and let's go. 

- Won't you tell me anything else? After breakfast where are we going?

- I told you something. Let's go now because I am hungry.

I didn't say anything and just nodded. I said goodbye to my parents and get in his car. I was going to ask Scott again what is the plan for the day, but I gave up. He won't tell me. 

After half an hour we stopped in front of one diner. It was pretty quiet. Probably because it's only 9:30 and people are still sleeping. I was about to get off the car when he came and opened the door for me. Since when he is a gentleman. I smile in return. Sometimes I think that he surprises himself. We walked inside and sit at one table near the window. The waiter came and we gave him our orders. 

- Well do you like the things up to now? 

- I didn't even eat my food, but I like to eat so I'll say yes. If you have given me more details about your plan, I could tell you do I like it. - I chuckled

- You have to wait for that. Step by step, I'll reveal everything. 

After we finished our breakfast, Scott paid for the food and we left. He opened the door and I get in his car. I wonder what he has in his mind. Something definitely is going on. He has never done that. Even when he was a kid. 

- So now we are going to one park which most of the people have forgotten about. Maybe because there is a lot of grass and basically no one has cut it for years. 

- And why we are going there?

- Because it's one of my favorite places. If I want to be alone sometimes, I go there. 

During the ride, we were quiet. I had no idea what to say. Are we really going to a forgotten place? Maybe it's special for him in some way. People say don't judge the book by its cover and that's what I'll do. How bad can be this park? I guess that it'll be full of grass since no one took care of it. 

Soon we arrived and again Scott opened my door. I guess that I have to get used to it. At least for today. 

- Welcome to the forgotten park or how it was named "Million roses".

- Why it was named like that? 

- Well here used to grow many roses from different kinds and colors. Now there aren't anymore. As you can see there is nothing else except grass. 

- It's still a pretty place. Maybe it was even prettier before. 

- It really was, but let's go now. There is one specific place, which I want you to see. Follow me. 

Scott grabbed my hand and we walked to this place. We passed through a lot of grass. Behind one bush, there was a really pretty view. There was something like a little meadow with little flowers. I guess these are the last survivors. There was no other place with flowers in the whole park. 

- What do you think? Do you like it? 

- I think that it's really pretty. I can't believe that people have forgotten about this place. 

- If you stop taking care of something or don't clean it, it's not interesting anymore. 

- Yeah, that's true too. How did you find it? 

- The thing is that many people walk by this place, but no one stops here and that's why I decide to do it. 

- I think that you did the right choice. 

We were sitting and talked for a while. Then Scott said that he has reserved lunch at one restaurant nearby. We get in the car. Soon we arrived. One man was at the entrance. Scott told him his name and he took us to our table. I didn't say anything. I still can't believe that Scott has done all that. I don't want to imagine what will be until the end of the day. 

After ten minutes our lunch came. I guess that he has prepared everything. I won't complain, because who knows will ever happen again. 

- Do you like lunch? I asked and the people here told me that this is their best meal. 

- I don't want to complain or anything like that, but why are you doing all of that? By the way, the lunch is delicious. 

- Why can't I? Is there a problem with that?

- No, I just think that you are a little bit overdoing the things. I feel spoiled. - I chuckled

- And what's the bad thing? I have to remind you that this is half of the day. 

- I know. I don't want to imagine what will be the rest of it. 

Both of us continue to eat peacefully. Neither a single word was said. I loved everything, which Scott did up to now, but I think it's too much. I mean that I'm not used to so much attention. 

Later we drive to another place. This time he didn't tell me where we are going. We are driving for an hour. Probably soon we'll arrive. I have to admit that it was pretty. Well, it was all trees, but I still liked the view. After around twenty minutes we stopped. 

- Now we have to walk a little bit. I can't park the car closer.

- It's ok. I love to walk. Is it far away or close?

- After around ten minutes we'll be there. Let me just take the bags from the trunk. 

Scott got two bags and grabbed my hand. I offered to take one of them, but he didn't let me. We start walking. There was a little path, which we followed. It was really ten minutes of walking. Soon we stopped in front of one lake. 

- Welcome to my secret place. I come here when I want to chill and to be alone. 

- It's pretty here. Will you finally tell me what are the bags? 

- They have some clothes and bathing suits in them. Because, Cupcakes, today we are going to swim. 

- There is no way that I'll swim. First, it's probably cold, and second, there is no way that I am changing in front of you or whoever it is. - I said which made him laugh

- If I close my eyes and promise to not watch, will you do it? C'mon it's only for today. Please. - he made puppy eyes

- Aghh, fine, but it's only this time. 

- Ok, I'll change and you can do it too. Don't worry, I won't watch. I promise. 

I nodded and grabbed my bag. I can't believe what I saw in there. He has picked the worst clothes that I have. All of them were revealing a lot from me. I think that after the swimming I'll stay in the same clothes which I am in now. I got the bathing suit and get changed. I turned around to make sure that he wasn't watching. I'm sure that the bad boy is somewhere around. 

When I got ready, I walked up to him. His eyes landed on me. No, no, no. Not today my friend. 

- Will you tell the bad boy to go away? I want my best friend. 

- What? Yeah, I'm sorry. It's my habit. 

With that, he jumped in the water. I decide to do it slowly. The water only touched my feet, but it made me step back. It is way too cold. There is no way that I'll get there. I don't want to get sick. 

- What's wrong? Won't you come?

- The water is cold. I don't want to get sick. 

- You weren't like that when you were dancing in the rain. 

Scott has a point here. The next thing he did was to get out of the water and come to me. He picked me up, bridal style, and started walking to the water again. Don't tell me that he'll throw me inside. It's way too cold. 

- W-what are you doing? Let me down.

- If you don't come inside by yourself, I'll make you do it. 

- No, no, don't do it. Please. It's really cold. I'll do anything. Don't throw me. 

Of course, Scott didn't listen. He jumped in the water with me in his hands. I swear I'm going to kill him. How he could do that? Well, he is a bad boy. What else should I expect from him? When I was about to get out, he grabbed my hand and pulled me close. Way too close. He lifted my chin and made me look at him.

- You, miss Jones, are not going anywhere. You will swim with me. 

I couldn't say anything. I felt frozen. This reminded me of when he pinned me on my wardrobe. Then I felt the same way. I don't know why, but when he gets close he has a different effect on me. I'm not used to having someone that close to me. 

- Ellie, are you ok? Why are you looking at me like that?

- What? Sorry, I get lost in my own thoughts.

- You no need to apologize. I know that you like the view. - he smirked, which made me punch him

- You wish. I am not from those chicks with who you walk around. If you want me, you have to try harder.

With that, I start swimming. Now the water doesn't seem that cold. We swam for like an hour. Then we get out to dry ourselves. I was about to put the clothes with which I came when Scott grabbed them and threw them in the water. He get them out when they were completely wet. 

- Why did you do that? I was going to put these on. 

- That's why I did it. I was sure that you'll put them back. Now you have no other choice than to put the clothes, which are in the bag. 

- I hate you so much. Actually, I can put your clothes on. 

- No, you can't. If you do that, I have nothing else to put on and I have to stay like that. Not like I mind, but it'll get cold. 

- Damn it! You'll pay me for this. I won't let you win. 

- But I did. That was what I wanted. Now stay here. I have to go to the car to take some things. I'll be back in twenty minutes. 

I nodded. Twenty minutes peace from him. Scott can be nice, but only when he wants. I have to say that this place is really pretty. As much as the park to which we went earlier. 

I get lost in my thoughts again when I heard footsteps. 

- Where are the things? You said that you'll bring some things.

- They are here. First, I'll do this. - he blindfolded me

- What is that for? Can you explain?

- Be patient. Soon you understand everything. This is the last thing for the day. Just promise me that you won't look or you'll ruin my effort. 

- Ok, I promise that I won't look. 

I heard some noises but refused to look. I always keep my promises. After maybe ten minutes, Scott was done and took off the blindfold. 

- You can look now. 

I can't believe it. I don't think that he'll stop surprising me. Scott had put a blanket and on top, there was a basket and food. I guess that we'll have a late-night picnic. It's really nice and the food looks homemade. Maybe he has asked his mom for help. 

- Do you like it? This is the last thing for the day. Then you are free to go home. 

- It's really nice. Thank you for that. You didn't have to do it, but I appreciate that. - I said and kissed his cheek

He deserved it. After all the things which he did today. We ate our dinner peacefully. The food is delicious. Credits to whoever made it. 

- Scott, can I tell you something?

- Sure. Is there a problem or something has happened?

- No, everything is ok. Don't worry. I just wanted to say thank you for the day. All the things that you did were amazing. You didn't have to waste so much time with me, but you did it and I appreciate that. Thanks for everything. I really needed it. 

- You know that for you I'll do everything. 

With that, I was pulled for a hug. Later when it got dark we watched the starts. The sky was really pretty. It got late so we had to go back, not as I wanted. This day was amazing. I am so happy that I spent it with my best friend. I don't know what I was going to do without him. Thank you Scott for always being with me.
