My childhood best friend is a bad boy

Chapter twenty - You'll always be by my side

Ellie's POV:

I learned something about myself or maybe two things. The first one is that I am not ready for dates and the second one is that if I'll go on one, I have to be very careful with who I am going. Technically those two days ago weren't a date, but it was a disaster. At least the rest of the night was fine. Thanks to my best friend. I need to stop using him as a problem reliever. We know each other for a long time, but that doesn't mean that I have to go to him every time when I have a problem. 

It's the weekend and I have nothing to do. I already watched some episodes of one TV show. Mom and dad are going out shopping, but I am not in the mood for that. 

- Honey, are you sure that you don't want to come with us? - mom asked

- Yes, I am. I'm not in the mood for that. 

- Ellie, you can't stay inside all day. Why don't you call Scott to hang out? - dad suggested

- Because I don't need him. Moreover, lately, he spends way too much time with me. He has friends after all. 

- It's up to you. We are going now. Call us if you need anything. - mom said and both of them left

I get in my room. Usually, I don't open this box, but now I decide to do it. This is the only place where I keep things from Scott from the time when we were little kids. I have to say that it's a pretty big box. The first thing, which I picked, were some photos. We look not more than ten. Then I got a rubber bracelet on which it says best friends. Scott gave me this in third grade. I also found our favorite video game. It's called "Smash and win". We used to play it for hours. Inside the box were a couple of notes and at the bottom a video. It turned out that it was me and Scott playing in the backyard. Back then, he used to be a knight who will save me from the garden monsters. 

All these things made me a little bit emotional. I decided to call Scott and see what he is doing. I won't invite him here, just I want a five-minute call. When I called him, the voicemail turned on. 

This is Scott's number. If it’s something important leave a message, if not then end the call and don't bother me. 

What a voicemail. All I want to tell him is not important, but I still will leave him a message. I hope that he'll hear it. 

Hey, it's Ellie. I know that my message is not important, but I just wanted to ask you how are you and what are you doing. Call me when you can. I'm sending you a big tight hug. 

The thing is that I need one. That's the weirdest thing for me. When he is here, I am just ok, but when he is gone, I'm starting to miss him, no matter that we live in the same town. Maybe another TV show or a movie will distract me for a while. I decide that it'll be "Instant family". I love this movie. It's funny and chilling. 

During the middle of it, I got a call. Did it has to be now? I picked up, without looking who is it.

- Hello, you are talking with Ellie and I am talking with?

- I know with who I am talking and I think that you know too. 

- Hey, I didn't expect you to call. 

- Well, I received your voicemail. Can I get my big tight hug? - Scott chuckled

- If you come to get it. I am too lazy to go outside. 

- Why I am not surprised? What are you doing? I hope that I am not interrupting something. 

- Only my movie, but that's ok. I guess that you are outside. It's very loud. 

- Yes, I went out with Noah and some boys. I gladly would invite you to come, but I am not sure will you want to. 

- Didn't you hear when I said that I am too lazy to go outside?

- But you can't stay inside all day. 

- Actually, I can and that's what I am doing now. 

- It's up to you. Look, Ellie, I have to go now, but I'll call you later or maybe I can come to see you. I don't know. 

- No worries. Go where you have to go. 

- Thanks. Bye Ellie. - Scott said and end the call

I continue watching movies until it was dinner time. Mom made some pasta and a salad. We ate peacefully. Mom and dad were talking and me only listening. I have nothing to talk about. Maybe later I can go for a walk. Yeah, this will be good. I need some fresh air. 

When I finished my dinner, I told my parents that I'll go out. They didn't say anything. I like to walk around parks. During the night is quieter. At the one in which I went, there was no one. I sit on a bench. I must have sat for a good one hour because when I looked at my phone it was already 10 pm. Then I decide to walk a little bit more before I go home. 

I passed by one nightclub. There were some boys. Flashbacks came to my mind from that night at the party. I walked by them, but I heard that someone called me. 

- Hey sweetie. What's your name? What a girl like you is doing here alone?

I didn't answer and tried to walk away, but he grabbed my hand. 

- Hey, I asked you something. Don't be scared. I won't do anything to you. I'll make you a deal. If you give me a kiss, I'll let you go. 

- I... I can't do that, I'm sorry. 

- But I don't accept a no. You will give me one or I'll take it by myself.

The boy pinned me to one wall. I get scared. Where is Scott when you need him? No, this time I have to fight alone. I can't wait for him to solve my problems. 

Soon I heard a familiar voice. 

- Are you cheating on me? I was out with friends for one night and you decide to cheat?

- Look, I... I didn't want to. It's just... 

- Wait a minute! Sweetie, you are taken? 

- Yes, she is. For almost a year, but I guess that this maybe will be the end. 

- No, don't do it. I swear that I won't do this again. Please don't leave me. 

- This is your last chance. If you do this one more time, we are done. Understood?

- Understood. So will you let me go now? For you, it'll be better if you do it. - I turned to look at the boy

The boy let me go and I run for a hug. He knows exactly when to come. I'm so glad that he is here. At least I learned another thing. To not go outside during the night. The next time he might not be here and I don't want to think about what might happen. 

- Thanks for saving me again Scott. I know that you'll always be by my side. 

- No problem, but what are you doing that late outside?

- I was bored staying all day at home and decided to go out. Just like what you said. 

- But I meant it during the day. Never mind. I'm glad that you are ok. 

- Yeah, thanks to you. By the way, how did it come to your mind that I cheated? - I asked chuckling

- Well, it wasn't that hard. I have broken many hearts so actually, it was pretty easy. 

- I don't want to imagine, but I can't believe that it worked. Again thank you. 

- For you always. Moreover, you have done amazing things for me. Now it's my turn.

- That was in the past. Now I did nothing. 

- Let me decide that. Do you want us to go for some milkshakes and then go home? 

- Except for the night clubs is there something else opened that late?

- I'll say that next time when you want to go out that late just call me. 

- I get it. Ok, let's go. 

We went to one diner. No one else was there. Not like I mind. I like quiet places. This helps me think better. Scott went to take our orders and then sit next to me. I immediately was pulled for a big tight hug. It's my fault. I send him one virtual today and I guess that he still wants it. 

- You couldn't resist, could you?

- Nope. You send me one and I want to receive it. If I haven't said it yet, you are mine. 

- Because I don't have other friends?

- No, because you are not like the other girls. You, miss Jones, are different in your own way and that's what I like the most about you. - he said and kissed the top of my head

I have to say that for a bad boy he is not doing a very good job. Usually, bad boys don't melt around a girl. Maybe he is still learning or maybe I have changed him. Whatever is the reason, I like him that way. Scott is nice and caring and the most important thing is that he doesn't want to play with me. 

- You are not very good for a bad boy. 

- Why? I am perfect for that. 

- And since when, mister perfect, the bad boys are melting around girls?

- When they meet the perfect one. Just like me a couple of years ago, but I am happy about it. 

- If you say so, but I think that you need to go out more with your friends and less with me. Before you think it, I love to spend time with you, but now you have new friends and they need you. 

- Maybe they need me, but I want something else or to say someone else. I have spent enough time with them. Now I want to make up for the lost time with you. 

- You don't need to, but I appreciate it. 

After we finished our milkshakes, he offered to take me home. I didn't deny it. I preferred to have someone around just in case. I don't want this to happen ever again. I guess that's what type of luck I have. I offered to Scott to come in, but he said that he'll go home. 

I went into my room and got to bed. Today was an interesting day. My best friend had to save me again. I guess that I can't resolve my problems without him. I still need him even for the little things. I always will be thankful that I have him by my side. Thank you Scott that you are always with me, even when I don't need you.
