Chapter 4. WHAT SEEMED LIKE A moment later, a hand was shaking him awake and Brad pushed himself up to sitting, his head spinning with the grogginess of sleep. “They’re here.” Brad’s sugary, caramel smell made him moan, l**t hitting him in the gut like a punch to the abs. “Yeah, thanks.” He blinked open his eyes slowly and was grateful that Stephen had left the room by the time he’d pulled himself together. “Argh...” He stretched his back and ran his hands through his shoulder length hair, the tangles and knots catching his fingers. They were half dreaded already. Stupid things. “Okay. Let’s go.” It was a struggle to push himself up, but the urgency of the day made his muscles work.
