Chapter Fifteen

|Fifteen| |Luxinia| All I had to do was focus on the task at hand. Keep an eye on Jesse during the ball. It was a much better event and way more high class than any other thing the societies do. It rivaled the faerie revels with how high class it was. However, it was not something I looked forward to. I did wonder though, what was this year's theme going to be. Each year the Consul thought of a theme. Perhaps they thought it would boost morale. It was a Victorian theme last year, this year is a mystery.  In the days to come, everyone would be on edge. Both races coexisting in one large ballroom was sure to be nerve-wracking. This also was the chance to recruit succubi to be claimed. Both parties were expected to come. Every single incubus and succubus from New York was permitted to come unless you had a legitimate excuse. However, if a succubus fought against their master to not attend, they would be brought to Bloodtrei's home. No one wanted to be there. Everen would surely not attend, because she was that powerful.  During the ball, I could relax knowing that they won't be hovering over me. They would be more focused on the new succubi flooding in. Elizabeth Hickey would be attending, a woman with serious problems. One might call her, the incubi lapdog. She recruited the young girls and took them right from their homes. Some may say she was doing good. If she didn't take them, the succubi would eventually kill their fathers. They would seduce them and drain their life. Elizabeth thought that she was some kind of goddess, saving succubi. She was the one to discover me. She came to my home, expecting a human father, however, my mother was there instead. The more shocking thing was that my mother was alive. Most died when they during childbirth. Elizabeth was probably shocked as to why I was not a cambion, but a succubus. There was no such thing as an incubus being with a female human and generating a succubus. Yet here I was, defying the laws of nature. At first, many wanted to kill me. They, of course, thought I was an abomination. They were almost afraid of me.  Rumors of a prophecy suddenly surfaced. I would become the end of all incubi. The power of both an incubus and a succubus. Many believe the prophecy is false and simply a fool's legend which isn't too far off. Many succubi are mixed with other supernatural genes since succubi are forbidden from relations with humans unless they get permission from their claimed. It's how Bloodtrei makes sure the succubus population doesn't become more populated than the incubus population. Jamie and Tessa still weren't home even after I got back from Everen's. I had the vial in my room and I was waiting to take it, so I could cure Tessa. I was worried about a few things actually. Everen was so eager to give me the vial. I was concerned that she might use that favor against me. After a couple of more hours I began to wonder, where did Jamie take Tessa? They weren't answering any of my calls or texts. Jamie wouldn't have brought Tessa outside unless he knew he could cure her. I hope they're okay. |Jesse| There should be a word for what I was feeling at this very moment. Ah, wait yes. There was. Two, in fact, annoyance, and anger. Oh! Perhaps stressed too. I was simply relaxing in my apartment when I heard an annoying knock from my door. I would've made my housekeeper open it, but she was too busy doing other things. For a human, she was adequate for me. She never questioned anything that happened here. In the event that there was blood on the floor, or on my clothes, she would not ask, just clean it. She once told me that as long as I paid her and stayed out of her way, she would not question anything I did nor contact the authorities. Nice woman. Anyways, here I was, sitting on my couch on a Sunday afternoon, with the weak incubus and his claim. Tessa was her name if I remember correctly. She stared at me with the most lustrous gaze I've ever seen in all my years of living. Jamie had a tight hold on her as if he was preventing her from pouncing on me. It made me grin. It was interesting to see that she was so interested in me, yet she was his claim. "Eager to see me, isn't she?" I folded my arms and looked at a fuming Jamie. "Yeah. because it's all your fault she's like this." Jamie snarled. I raised a brow, surprised by how hostile he was with me. "Tsk. Tsk. Be careful when you speak to me. You don't want your true color to show. I don't want to report you two to Bloodtrei." "You made her like this!" Jamie tightened his hold on Tessa. She stiffened and looked at him, a distant look on her face. "Okay, I get it. Whatever is wrong with her, it's my fault. Now, tell me what did I do?" I asked calmly before he got me angry and I accidentally killed him and Tessa. "Remember when you were trying to find Lux? You used your s*x magic a little too much and completely consumed her. You broke her claim with me and replaced it with yours, however, it wasn't completed so now she's this shell." Jamie stared at me venomously. I stared at Tessa and narrowed my eyes in concentration. This incubi before me must be very weak if I completely cut their bond so easily. Or perhaps I was using to much of my magic. Either way, Tessa is now a broken succubus. This could not happen. The chances of me getting reprimanded for this was low, but I could not have a claimed succubus, especially if Jamie here was in love with her. It didn't bode well in the pit of my stomach. Luxinia. All this for one succubus. How was she? I wonder if she was okay, I thought. I frowned and turned to Jamie. "Is Lux okay?" Jamie's eyes dilated to black. Oh dear, I've angered the 'beast'. I chuckled softly. "Relax, she'll be fine. It'll wear off in a couple of days. She'll be fine based on the severity of this." "How can you say that? She's been shaking and her thoughts are all about you. She doesn't seem to be getting any better. You have to fix this," Jamie snapped. I grinned venomously, knowing exactly what she needed. "She needs me to f**k the magic out of her system." "NO! Absolutely not." Jamie grabbed her other arm and kept her even closer to him. I didn't how much closer he could get. "There must be another way." "I'm no magician. I can't just take the energy back." If he were powerful enough, he could overpower my magic and claim her again, but he wasn't. Hence why he was ruining my afternoon.  I sighed. "Listen, it wasn't my intention to do this to her. If it was, I would be taking her by force and you know I could easily do that." Jamie sighed and took a deep breath. All the anger he seemed to have washed away. Or maybe it was like a balloon airing out slowly. "I'll see what I can do." Just as I said that I heard a loud knock on the door. Who the hell was it this time? I approached the door and opened in. There was Lux at my door with a heated expression on her face. "Outta my way," She snapped, shoving herself inside my house. My eyes grew wide. This was my house. In what universe did I have to move out the way in my house? Anger laced through me and I followed her to where Jamie was sitting. She approached him and I saw her pupils dilate red. "I told you that I would handle it! Why are you here? I said that I would find something." Jamie narrowed his eyes. "I needed to see just in case you couldn't find anything," Jamie growled, standing up. Oh no, This was not going to go down in my house. I didn't have the time to deal with incubus drama. "I'm sorry I didn't know that my house became the party location. Maybe it's time for you to leave? This has nothing to do with me." Lux turned to me. "Oh, no. It has everything to do with you. If you hadn't gone senile and tried to find me this wouldn't be happening." My eyes grew wide. This little bit-- "I saved you. If it weren't for me, your little ass would be in the bottom of the river by now! I would appreciate it if you were a little more grateful, thank you very much!" My anger started to summon my s*x magic. This little minx was bringing out the ugly in me. I needed them out of my f*****g house. I had no time for foolishness. She glared at me as if she was ready to fight me head-on. I didn't give a damn if she was a succubus and I needed to watch her, as much as I liked her I would kill her if need be. I released my s*x energy to render her helpless. Her hand lashed out and suddenly I felt my magic dropped. It felt like a vacuum came and sucked all my magic out. What the--? Lux was leeching on my energy, sucking it in as fast and I was releasing it. She was negating my power. Without thinking, I lunged for her, my fingers around her delicate throat. I pinned her against the wall, my eyes searched her. "Now I know why they assigned me to you. You have tricks up your sleeve." I snarled, getting angrier that I didn't see like one wink of fear on her. Lux gave me the same look I gave her, and that enraged me. I unleashed more of my magic to overpower her. It was enough to put someone in a s****l coma, yet here she was, taking all of it. I grabbed her jaw roughly and brought her face closer to mine. "You will tell me how you do that, or I won't hesitate to kill you. Do you think the Demon Consul will believe that you were powerless all these years? I'll say my hand slipped, I don't think they'll mind. It'll be a better fate than the one they'll give you." Lux still glared. "When hell freezes over." She brought her knee to my crotch with a force that should've killed me, but my hand caught her knee and crushed it in my grip. Lux screamed and was sliding towards the floor, but I held her up by her neck. My emotions were all discombobulated as I gripped her tightly. Lux was hiding her power from me. Everyone thinks she just a mouthy succubus, but no, not nearly. Lux wasn't all talk, she was a force to be reckoned with. If I were to tell Bloodtrei what I witnessed, they would put her down quicker than you could say prophecy. Lux certainly was capable of killing an incubus. Did she always have this raw power? This situation was plummeting fast.  Whatever feelings I had towards her were now all gone.  This was now my duty. If I didn't follow what was to be done, then I would be the one killed. "I'm taking you to Bloodtrei," I snarled, grabbing her arms and holding her down to the floor. I was still pushing my magic on her and yet she still was sucking it in. I don't know how she was doing it, but once I handed her in, she would be out of my hands and the job would be done. Lux stilled. She stared at me through the side of her vision with wide eyes. "No. Please." "This power of yours! It needs to be controlled!" I snapped holding her down with all my strength. I was ordered to kill her if I thought she was a threat. I couldn't bring myself to kill her so I would have to hand her over instead. That was a duty of mine that I had to fulfill. I sensed a presence behind me and before I got the chance to fully look, the world was an array of dark colors.  Everything faded to black.
