Author’s POV
Mendo stared at the stiff back of Akira who stopped shaking. She quickly wiped her eyes and stayed put. Mendo walked upto her and sat beside her saying nothing. The two were very conscious of each other’s presence but none wanted to disrupt the awkward silence between them.
After what seemed like forever, he felt Akira glance at him sideways.
“I am truly sorry.” He mutters which tears Akira all the more.
“You know it would have been better if you rejected me completely rather than siding me.” Akira finally had the courage to speak what was in her heart.
This shook Mendo. His head snapped to her side wondering what gave her that idea.
