“If my answer will be no, what are you going to do?” Quinn’s answer back a question to a question which made me drowned on my own silent thoughts.
“Just kidding of course I believe in you it’s just that I want to lighten up the mood and also honestly take time to absorb it.” He said that cut off my thought so I immediately response:
“I am so glad to have you as my friend that believes on me.” It was a big relief on my part.
“Some people can easily turn away but there also who will choose to stay. So you are lucky to have one as a friend here, well I am one of a kind, aren’t I?” That he said while pointing himself with wiggled eyebrows.
“Yeah you are one of kind; you made me more worried when I am worrying so much already.”
“You shouldn’t have, worrying never does get you anywhere.” He said while releasing his handy laptop inside his backpack. “Unlike one of my baby it can get us anywhere as long we use the right resources.” He said pertaining to his ‘baby’ which is the laptop or any high tech gadget.
Quinn is the talkative type of person except when he is focus with his babies so silence came between us. I saw him use a different browser from the usual ones to search for Damian Douglas but still no result so he suddenly murmured out ‘He must be a private person or high profile’. Probably talking to himself with his eyes full of interest he continues typing from different window to another window so quick when a file with a picture show up that shook me it was a mug shot of a young Damian.
“That’s him!” I pointed out on screen.
“Are you sure about this?”
“I am sure it is him without the tattoos yet,” I remember him having full arm tattooed.
“I mean based on the files he is really a high profile person and actual prisoner. A former member of army but demoted due to another secured file that I still need to decode furthermore to crack.” He explains which I understand (well except for coding) so I try to defend what I know:
“For the almost two years we’ve work together he was really a good guy he knows how to lead properly in the middle of that situation.”
“Well then let’s give him the benefit of doubt.”
“So is there a given current location of him?” I asked him.
“Luckily the jail he’s held as of now is just one or two hour of ride from here but the thing is we need private access to be able to visit him. If we only have connections with big people like Ace’s father whom a warden.” Quinn answered with a sighed.
“As in Ace of the football team?”
“Yup, one of the popular kids, it’s not easy to approach them.”
“Well maybe we can also give him the benefit of doubt he approached me to apologize when he hit me.” I said using some words he used recently.
“As in the Frisbee accident? Which cause the start of this mayhem…” he taunted. “Kidding aside let’s try to talk to him.”
~
With that we planned to approach him when he is alone so we can do it privately then somehow we managed to talk to him:
“Hey Ace.” I interrupt him while his busy on his locker.
“Yes, man?” Ace said without looking.
“Hi I am Jack the one last week with err…” I was trying to introduce myself when Quinn mouthed Frisbee.
“Jack man why? Oh no does your head hurts? Do you need me to assist for hospital or something like that?” He rushed some question when he recognized me.
“My head is fine but I need assist for something else.”
“Which is?”
“We need some access to visit someone in jail where your father is a warden, I just need to talk to a certain inmate.” I said straight to the point that made him question.
“How did you know about my father?” Ace asks confused and so as I am confused what to answer.
“I kind of know how to get info’s like that on net.” Quinn supplies the answer for me which I didn’t expect him to tell the truth.
“That’s cool man! And I think my father can grant an access but may I know what the reason for?”
“It is a something about I can’t understand myself too that’s why I need to have at least talk to him.”
“Well since I think I owe you I will definitely ask father for that just give me the name and also let’s exchange contacts so I can inform you.”
We had a hard time approaching him that was expected already since he has a lot of friends that it took time to have him alone what’s unexpected is that he agreed easily. Things are going well it made me think over and over again that maybe this is the so called the silence before the storm.
As another silence enveloping with the three of us inside a car going to the jail location. Yes, we are on it which is me, Quinn and oddly with Ace too because he told us that he’ll drive for us for he needed to be there to personally listen on the conversation. That is the way his father allow us to talk to Damian to make sure we are not making plans of escaping prisoner or anything illegal. That is very far on what I supposed to tell which is something impossible so I am worried how I will make Damian believe on me while Ace will also hear about it.
“Stop overthinking Jack.” Ace said when he saw I was probably staring blankly.
“Can’t help it I’m really good at it.” I jokingly said
“Bad habits die hard.” Quinn said who seem to just wake up from almost two hour ride.
“Anyway here we are, so let’s go!” He said to us then shows something to the guard.
~
“Who are these kids, what do you need from me?” Damian impatiently asked once we entered the visiting booth.
“We need to talk to you about something seem impossible but you got to believe us.” So I answered and he only c****d his brow so I continue. “An apocalypse cause by black butterflies will happen by year 2020...”
“What the hell you are talking about I do not have time playing with kids.” He immediately stand up and ready to leave.
“Wait please listen I just do not know what exactly we can do at this moment but you always say that ‘We will do what we must do’ so perhaps you know what to do.” I quoted his most used line and seems like it was effective.
“Tell me the details you know.” He demanded so I detailed things about the black butterfly and about him being the troop leader.
“Everything you said about B2 was unbelievable but the way you describe my character it felt like you really know me personally. Even it is unbelievable there is no harm on preparing about it but the situation wherein is limited; me here inside this prison and you kids who still look like a student.” He said browsing the three of us.
“Yeah I wanted to do everything I can, even sell my soul if is that possible or sort of but...”
“Don’t do that. Do not start everything at once you might end up with nothing. Let’s do this step-by-step since we don’t know its origin we cannot prevent it but you mentioned that well-dried seeds are the repellent so perhaps we can start from collecting those. Probably I can suggest to the management to do a project planting for inmates.” Damian finally suggested now that things have probably sink in him.
“I’ll do the same about collecting dried seeds and also pellet toy guns.”
“Prevention is better than cure though, if only the origin is known. Maybe you could hack info somewhere Quinn.” Ace suddenly interrupts that made me shock not because it was sudden but because he actually believes without a blink.
“That’s actually great, if you can do that then why not. Return here if ever you found out something I’ll also update you if this project will be success.” Damian said with firm and final tone.
~
With that we left to start something hoping for a success.
