After two seconds of stunned silence, Shane, Blake, and Jasmine all started shouting questions and accusations.
"Where is she?"
"Why didn't you tell us??"
"Who is she?"
"Why didn't you bring her with you?"
The cacophony of questions hit me like a wave, and I had to take a deep breath before responding. My heart pounded in my chest as I took in their shocked faces, feeling the gravity of my own words as I voiced them aloud for the first time. Saying it out loud felt like I'd turned a key, unlocking a door I hadn't known was there.
So, I lifted my hand up to silence them and explained the unfortunate way we met. The resulting silence was a testament to their shock.
"She is human?" Jasmine was the first to ask, horror-struck. "Then she probably has no idea that we exist at all! She might not even recognize you as her mate."
As I nodded confirmation to Jasmine's question, an old story flitted into my mind. It was one of the ancient tales told around bonfires, a human woman falling for a werewolf and both braving all odds for their love. There were just a few such tales in our history. They were romanticized but also served as a grim reminder of the complications that inevitably arose with such unions.

Human-werewolf mating was not unheard of, but it was very rare. No one knew why it didn't happen more often or, better yet, why it happened at all. The difference in strength, lifestyle, and abilities was incomprehensible.
That said, werewolves were borderline obsessed with mating with humans. Perhaps it's because they were so fragile and different; perhaps it was the challenge. Some wolves claimed that s*x with humans offered a whole different level of pleasure. A kind of rush that doesn't compare to anything else.
But I always thought it was because the whole thing was taboo. Although not exactly forbidden, we were advised against mingling with humans so as not to risk exposure. The Elders that were in charge of and enforced our laws were very adamant about this.
Still, no one could deny that packs that had humans usually prospered more, their lands becoming richer as if the earth's magic blesses such unions. And in the age of the Curse - as my kind called these past few centuries of our magic acting up and waning - such gifts were cherished.
But in many cases, the whole ordeal was just messy. We had to reveal our identity to a human, deal with the reactions which could go either way, have them swear an oath of silence, teach them our ways, etc.
Not impossible, just more complicated. Not to mention that they couldn't feel the mating bond in the same way we did. They did feel something, though - an attraction of sorts that matured into true love.
In any case, the Mood Goddes predominantly binded werewolves together. Therefore mating with a human was like a special treat, making it all the more enticing for wolves.
And now I was one of the lucky bastards who got to enjoy it.

"What the f**k are we going to do? We have to bring our Luna here, where we can protect her; she's not safe on her own," Blake was the loudest of the three, his deep voice easily booming across the room.
He was pacing now, a habit he'd picked up whenever he was anxious. His reaction didn't surprise me. Blake had always been a protector at heart, and the thought of a vulnerable Luna, one unfamiliar with our world, clearly set his teeth on edge. "We need to send someone to get her immediately!" he argued, his voice resonating with concern and determination.
I felt a knot in my stomach at Blake's words. He was right, of course, but something held me back. The idea of introducing her to our world, to the truth of what I was - it was daunting. I could already sense the bond between us, a thin thread of awareness that kept me connected to her. It was intoxicating and terrifying in equal measure.
However, this was definitely not the usual scenario, so I needed him to back off a bit. I had no idea how to approach my little mate, but I knew in my heart it had to be done slowly and gently.
"No, we can't do that right now. Shut it, Blake" I stopped him before he could protest again. "I know, believe me, I know she needs to come here and be with me sooner rather than later. Especially now that bastard Damien is planning something."
I cracked my neck to ease the tension growing in my head a bit. "But I can't just barge into her flat and demand she comes with me to live in the middle of the forest. I will go look for her tomorrow, introduce myself, and try to figure out if she knows anything about our kind. I have no idea if she feels the bond, but she must at least feel attracted to me enough to form a friendship. Then I'll take it from there."
"Fine. But I don't like it," Blake stated firmly. "At least tell me her address, and I'll go watch over her tonight with one of my men. We will stay out of sight, I swear," he said quickly before I could protest. "Please, Jace, let me do this. She won't even know we're there."
I sighed. "Okay. Go. I'll mind-link you the location."
The next second, he was out the door.
"Inform me about the situation throughout the night," I told him through the link. I couldn't say the words, but I let relief and pride flow through our bond, letting him know how much I appreciated his devotion to the Luna he had never even met.
"What about the horny b***h in your bed?" Jasmine asked, snapping me back to reality.
I cringed. f*****g hell, that'll be unpleasant.
"Uh, yeah, I'll end things right away."
"Good. Finally. I grew sick of smelling her stench on you every night," Jasmine said, disgust prominent on her face.

Stacey wasn't exactly well-liked among the females in our pack.
No surprise there, considering her promiscuous behavior and the fact that nothing was sacred to her - married, engaged, mated, single - all wolves were welcome in her bed. Males, on the other hand, had no objections, myself included.
Of course, she and I didn't have anything serious going on, and she was great in bed. No promises, no expectations. At least on my part.
Still, I knew it wouldn't be a clean break when I entered my room fifteen minutes later.
All she-wolves desired to become Lunas and chose no means to achieve that goal. Deep down, I knew Stacey was hoping to claim the title for herself.

The smell of s*x still lingered in the air, and the naked she-wolf was lying on my bed, touching herself, eyeing me seductively.
I immediately averted my gaze. A few hours ago, that would make my d**k hard in an instant. Now, it made me nauseous and angry.
"Get dressed and go. This is over." I said through gritted teeth while opening a window.
"Hmm? What are you talking about, Jace?" she said lazily, still working her cunt.
"I said, whatever this was between us is now over. I won't be seeing you again unless it's as your Alpha."
"Babes, what are you talking about? We have so much fun together. Why would we stop at all? No one makes you c*m as hard as I-" she started whining, not taking me seriously in the slightest.
I couldn't blame her, though. This isn't the first time I broke things off with her, only to take her back into my bed a couple of weeks later.
"I will say this one more time, and I suggest you listen very carefully. I will no longer engage with you in any kind of personal relationship. From now on, you will address me as Alpha only." I bared my teeth at her. "Now, get dressed and get out of my room."
"Jace, come on. We both know this is not the end. I don't know who got on your nerves, but I have a great way to relieve some of that frustration." Her small eyes turned speculative. "You didn't get to c*m earlier. We can take care of that right now."
She laid further back on my pillows, spreading her legs wide and offering me a view of her glistening p***y.
I shut my eyes angrily. Everything about her was now offending me. Her naked body, her scent, and her voice felt wrong and hurt my senses. So, I abandoned my spot next to the window, picked up her clothes from the floor, wincing at the memory of me being the one who passionately threw them there. I tossed the tiny bits of clothing at her.
"Get. The. f**k. Out. Now." I growled, using my Alpha voice.
Surprise, shock, hurt, and rage flashed across her face, but she couldn't do anything against my command. Not unless she meant to challenge me and die.
So, with one last look of malice, Stacey ran out of the room.

Once she was gone, I allowed myself a moment to reflect. Regret washed over me as I thought back on my past relationships, all the she-wolves I'd taken to my bed. But now, everything had changed. My mate was waiting, and she deserved more than the man who had just dismissed Stacey with a cold, hard command.
As I looked around my room, my gaze fell on the bed — the scene of many fleeting pleasures and broken promises. It felt sullied, a stark reminder of my past mistakes and the she-wolves I'd led on with empty promises of love. I couldn't bring my mate here, in this room that held the scent of others. The thought made me uncomfortable, sparking a sense of urgency to change things before she arrived.
Okay, I definitely had to burn everything Stacy or any other female had ever touched. Maybe I should switch rooms altogether.
I glanced at the clock. Only six more hours and I get to meet my mate officially. Anticipation stirred within me as I contemplated meeting her. The thrill of the unknown, the promise of what could be — it was intoxicating.
As the night dragged on, I found myself staring at the clock, counting down the hours till I met her. I could hardly contain my curiosity.
What was she like? Would she have a fiery spirit or a gentle nature? Would she accept me, us, for who we are?
The thought sent a thrill of fear through me, but it was quickly overshadowed by the potent sense of rightness that surged within me every time I thought of her.
Soon, my little mate, soon I will make you mine.
