--- Chapter 2: The Billionaire’s Terms Part 1 --- Elena didn’t knock this time. She stormed straight through the Alaric Building’s lobby like she owned it — like she hadn’t spent the entire night searching for her missing brother with no leads, no answers, and no mercy. Security didn’t stop her. They just watched. Maybe because of who she was. Or maybe because they knew Damian was expecting her. The elevator opened without her pressing a button. Top floor. Executive suite. And hell. --- Damian was waiting, sitting exactly where she left him — behind his desk, suit pressed, whiskey untouched. His eyes met hers the moment she walked in, like he’d been watching the elevator the entire time. “I assume this is a surrender,” he said quietly. Elena didn’t sit. “My brother is missing.” Damian didn’t blink. “I know.” Her fists clenched. “What did you do to him?” “Nothing. Yet.” His voice was soft. Calm. Lethal. “But you knew the rules. You had seventy-two hours. You left with threats instead of answers. The boy made himself vulnerable.” Her voice broke. “He’s twelve.” “He’s a Vaine,” Damian replied sharply. “And that bloodline comes with enemies. People who’d gut him just to hurt your father.” Elena wanted to scream. She wanted to slap him again. Break something. Anything. But she didn’t. Because now, more than ever, she understood something terrifying: Damian Alaric didn’t bluff. --- “I’ll do it,” she said finally. Her voice barely a whisper. “Whatever you want.” He stood. Walked to her slowly. Pulled a black folder from his drawer. “Good girl.” She flinched at the words. He handed her a document. Twenty pages. Typed. Signed already. Alaric-Vaine Agreement. Effective Immediately. Section 1: Full confidentiality. Section 2: Three months of exclusive service. Section 3: No media contact. No personal travel. Section 4: All duties and actions fall under Alaric Holdings. Section 5: Damian Alaric retains full control. Her hands shook as she flipped through it. “This is a prison,” she whispered. “This,” he said, “is freedom in disguise.” “I’m not your possession.” “You’re not,” he said with a small smile. “You’re my leverage.” --- Elena stared at the final page. Her signature box was already printed. Next to it — a blank space for her fingerprint. “This is insane,” she muttered. “This is survival,” he corrected. “And Zane?” “As soon as you sign,” Damian said, “I’ll make sure he’s protected.” “Alive?” He didn’t answer immediately. Then: “He’s in one of my safehouses. Monitored. Untouched.” Tears burned her throat. But she didn’t let them fall. She grabbed the pen. Signed. Then pressed her finger to the scanner. --- A soft beep. Contract confirmed. Damian smiled — not warm, not kind. Triumphant. “Welcome to hell, Miss Vaine.” --- 👉 Part 2 of Chapter 2 coming next: Elena’s first “task” under Damian She’s pulled into a brutal business meeting as bait A public humiliation scene that tests her pride
