The next day I awoke to the bed empty, I sat up and looked around but Vincent was gone, there was however a note on the nightstand beside me. I have business to attend to Princess. I'll be home late. Your dress for the gala will be delivered to the house, use my card to buy things for our home. ~ Vincent Under the note was a black card similar to his but it had my name on it. I picked it up and looked it over. I felt pleased but it was also overwhelming. I didn't want to spend his money, I wanted to make my own but I was nervous. I had been considered talented in all my artistic pursuits in the past. Painting, writing, music and photography had given me prestige in college, opening opportunities to a promising life. Having so many options for prestigious companies galleries and even solo pursuits was wonderful but I had given them all up for Jonathan. Assuming he knew best as he was excellent with his emotional manipulations. So much time had passed, could I still do those things? He had discouraged my old talents, saying they were useless and I needed to focus on him as well as the house. Even though I was free now, the insecurities still lingered in my mind. I slipped from the warm covers and stumbled into the ensuite bathroom. It was spacious and simple, with a spacious standing shower on one side and a large ceramic bath tub on the other. Towels hung on a rack, one black and the other a soft green. Green being my favorite color I grabbed it with a smile at the thoughtfulness, it was soft and large enough to wrap myself in like an absorbent blanket. The shower took me a moment to figure out, there were so many settings it was difficult but Vincent was kind enough to put instructions for me. They were very meticulous and easy to follow, his attempts to make me feel at home warmed my heart. After I finished the shower I dressed in a simple pair of black shorts and a cozy warm green shirt, my hair felt softer from the products provided for me and my skin was glowing. I felt attractive as I looked at myself, my eyes full of hope. Downstairs V was munching on some French toast, chatting away on the phone with one of her contacts. She spotted me and playfully whistled in approval. "Someone looks glowing" she grinned at me as I blushed slightly "You and Vincent must have-" "L-Let's go shopping!" I quickly shouted, she was stunned for a moment but the thoughts of shopping were too good to give up. Edgar brought me my own plate of French toast, fluffy scrambled eggs and thick slices of crispy bacon. My stomach rumbled as my mouth watered. "Thank you very much Edgar" I said with a smile, he bowed respectfully an be smiled back. "Youre very welcome young Miss. Whenever you both are ready, the driver would be more than happy to take you into town." Veronica smiled "oh? Even a driver? My aren't you climbing that social ladder" she teased with a smile. I gave her a look, causing her to giggle at the scrunch of my nose. I began to eat my food, the scenes of the night and the stark difference between Vincent and Jonathon lingered in my mind. We quickly finished our food, thanked Edgar for the delicious meal and headed out to the car. It was nice, nicer than Veronica's car, and I could tell he had done it to annoy her. Despite them both being wealthy and influencing, he always seemed to have slightly more. Flaunting it more subtly and without fanfare like she typically would. The drive into town was smooth, Veronica mapped out many expensive boutiques and even included some hobby stores for me. She planned the most efficient path, even including light snacks and rest spots along the way. She was truly a shopping genius and I enjoyed teasing her. Our first boutique was upscale, it had attendants that would wait on the customers and everyone seemed all too familiar with Veronica. Our attendant stood out from the prom and proper cookie cut outs, she was young and bright eyed with an eagerness to help. "My name is Maybelle, thank you for choosing Muses for your shopping needs. Is there anything I could get you lovely ladies?" "Cucumber water and the strongest pair of arms you can find." Veronica purred, her eyes scanning the store already for the items she desired. Maybelle was quick, she brought out two tall crystal glasses of cucumber water with a strapping young man in tow. Her wishes met Veronica quickly moved. She was like a fashionable ninja, rushing around the store collecting items and pairing them into outfits for every occasion. Many watched her with amazement while i slowly perused the racks. I found a few things here and there but over all most things were too flashy or simply not my taste. Maybelle followed me, eyeing me carefully. "You seem to prefer more modest clothes, seeking more comfort than status" I smiled "you have a good eye. I'd lounge all day if I could but I have...I have someone I'd like to look nice for." I blush thinking of Vincent. Maybelle smiled and took my arm with hers. Leading me to a section of lingerie that made my cheeks flush. She picked out something that accentuated my feminine curves. The top was a rich teal blue that faded into a softer mint green color, there was intricate lace detailing on the bodice that carefully blended into the long shimmering sheer fabric, loved with soft lace on the edges. The item itself was both dainty and alluring, allowing me some consider without exposing me entirely. I took it and smiled. "Thank you Maybelle" she smiled and took the garment to join other purchases. By the time Veronica found me she had two burly gentlemen with arms full of clothes shoes and accessories. She was almost sweating from the exercise it took to collect such a staggering amount. "Find anything Doll?" She asked me. Noticing the few items in my hands. She scrunched her face and rolled her eyes as she took me on another trip around the store picking out several things to suit my taste. It wasn't a massive pile like hers but more clothes than I was used to having. After we paid we went to a high end cafe, the desserts were stylized for influencers and the atmosphere was bright for pictures. I could see why V really enjoyed it when we ordered two fruit parfaits, they were refreshing and just the right amount of sweet. Lost in conversations I almost didn't notice Nadia approach until I saw V's eyes go wide, she tried to shield me but she wasn't faster than Nadia's cold smoothie that hit me with enough force there were other casualties that all began to cry out in frustration at the situation but that didn't faze her. "I know it was you w***e! You ruined my life!" She shrieked out. I turned to look at her. My eyes were full of rage at her audacity and childishness but I tried to keep calm. Her belly was flatter than the last time I had seen her, the article of her giving birth was overshadowed and only suffered another damning mark against her character as DNA revealed it to Jonathan's. The timelines of my divorce and the child's conception broke her attempt to paint me as a crazed stalker. I smirked at her. "how's your affair child?" She turned red, her fists trembling with rage. If looks could kill, I know I'd be dead but I didn't care. I refused to back down again. Never again.
