The next day.
The minister gathered all the leaders of his Legion.
I'm not part of the Legion, but as I am technically the Minister's assistant to-be. I have no choice but to join the meeting.
Inside the meeting room. Only the highest of all commanders were gathered. Ranging from Battalion Commanders to Brigade Commanders.
The Knight yesterday that guessed the Minister's intention is also here. Apparently he's a Battalion Commander, handling a thousand-man troops.
"Everyone's Gathered" the Minister greeted.
All eyes in the room gathered on him as he entered the room.
The Minister then went to his seat, the forefront of the elongated table where his chair is.
"As you all might've guessed, we are preparing for war" he said as he looked at each one of his retainers.
Our gaze met and I nodded.
It's a good choice to tell the current plan only to those trustworthy, and I think he has trust on me as well.
"But for now, we would not be making any big movements" the minister said.
"His Majesty, the King has given us permission to gather arms and supplies. But only with the condition that we used the pretense of full-armed military training"
"What do you mean, Sir?" an old-man with white hair asked.
His eyes are sharp like a sword created for s*******r, and his body looked frail. But the shirt he's wearing accentuated his tightly-packed muscles hiding underneath.
'Are all old-men in this world regularly take some kind of steroids or something? They're all packed as hell!'
"It means what it exactly means" the minister said.
"...We are leaving the capital, aren't we?" the old-man hesitantly said.
The minister nod his head, and looked at us.
"That is correct, we will leave the capital. We are tasked to move to every fortress that our Kingdom possess currently. While doing so, gather all the information we can get, before our allies arrive"
"How long, sir?" this time the knight asked.
Slightly red hair and brown eyes, his not wearing his armor currently, none of the people here are.
This knight, resembled the Minister to a great extent. Obviously, his the minister's first born. Ramon's elder-brother.
"We were not given time. 'Return as soon as possible' was all His Majesty said"
I think I get what it means now... I didn't get the term he used earlier, but I think I understand now.
They are to go out, in the pretense of training, and with that they would gather information.
With an indefinite time, which means they are to return if an emergency occur. They are still warriors of this Kingdom, so they should prioritize it first above their mission.
Anyways, even if I'm currently the assistant of the minister, I could not leave the capital. The count and the higher ups should understand it as well.
Keep the suspicious one close.
They can't send me outside the capital, especially to the fortresses.
I'm being watch 24/7 while I'm here in the capital. Those shadows stick to me like leeches hungry for blood.
That's why, if I leave, I'll have more chances of escaping them.
From the view of a Monarch and the people who supports him, an unknown person that a Count of their Kingdom brought, is not a person they could easily trust.
"I'll Leave Battalion Commander Sead and two companies here at the capital to ensure His Majesty and the Royal family's safety" he said "Work with Count Vinceral and protect them with your life"
The Knight Sead, stood up from his chair and saluted.
"Ha!"
"The rest of you are to move to other regions. Regimen Commander Silva, take the east, and Regimen Commander Azur, take south"
"Ha!!"
The Old-man with silver hair is named Silva, and the commander Asur, is a woman in between thirties and twenties. Both of them stood up and saluted at the minister.
"Prepare, and don't tell a soul about the meeting we just had. A week from now, we depart"
"Ha!!!"
The minister ended the meeting, and every commander stood up and gave a curt salute, before leaving the room. Sead included.
I was once again left alone with the minister. He gestured for me to remain at the end when our eyes earlier.
"Kaiser... Was it?" the minister spoke.
"...Yes" I curtly answered.
"You... are to stay here" he said.
Welp, I predicted this. So I only nod my head.
"So you already knew, you'd be staying?" the minister said, as he looked at me.
I shrugged my shoulders.
"Well, it's quite easy to know, if you're a suspicious individual lurking in the base of a monarch"
"You are suspicious, I do agree. But it's not the reason for why you are staying"
...It's not?
Confused, I looked at the minister. He wore a serious face.
"Count Vinceral, recommended that you stay. No. It was more like a desperate plea from him" he said as he looked at the documents infront of him.
"He stated that, you MUST stay here in the capital. He emphasizes that you should not leave. Not now. I don't know what he is planning, but as I said before. I trust Count Vinceral, so I decided to leave you here"
"...Bullsh*t" I whispered faintly.
I know full-well that this person doesn't trust the count one bit. He just felt guilty about the death of Sir Count's only son.
I won't say it to him though. For now, It's better for me to have more allies. Plus, I really need to stay here. I need to get my soul stone Identification test, and spy on the Heroes, I need to know where I should stand in the theatre.
"I'm grateful" I sincerely said as I bowed my head slightly.
The Minister smiled at my action as he compile the documents infront of him.
He then looked at me.
"...Do you mind if I ask something?" he said.
I shook my head, and signal the Minister to continue.
"Do you have any relation to Count Vinceral, even before he brought you here?"
I turned silent as his question. Not because I have prior relationship with the Count, but because I don't.
Specifically speaking I don't know the count until he introduced himself in the medical room.
I know what he was asking me, and that's where I'm troubled about answering.
If I said I do, it would create misunderstandings, and if I say I don't, he would question why the count was desperate to let me stay.
Even I'm confused when I heard that he plead for my stay in the capital, and that might direct some suspicion towards me... But if I don't answer, it would seem like, I have prior relationship with him.
So, I shook my head.
"I first met the Count, when I first woke up in his house" I said.
"But he seems really fond of you"
"Unfortunately, I don't have an ounce of a knowledge why"
"I see... That is all" the minister said.
I nod my head, stood up and leave room.
A week from now... I should think of the things I should do to get inside palace quickly.
I have a feeling that time is running out.
-----
Throughout the whole week of the 5th legions preparation. The soldiers and other knights came to know of my name.
My surname that is.
It was due to the fire I caused and how the minister me. Although I have recommendations, I who came from unknown origin, is a suspicious person.
People's eyes would gather to those different, especially me, who have black hair.
Black hair is quite rare in this world, But it's not unique either.
I've seen some people with black hair, roaming in the 'Outer Rings' a few times, there were some in the 'Inner Rings' as well.
But, without my knowledge. It seems that my normal browns eyes, was now a pair of onyx black orbs.
I haven't noticed it before, as I haven't looked in a mirror for too long. But, the knight Sead, noticed my irregular eyes.
Apparently black eyes are the unique one in this world. And black eyes are considered the Goddess Reil's blessings.
I don't know if it's true though. I have to ask her if we meet again... Which I don't want to happen...
Each eyes blessings differed as well.
I have this, 'God's Apostle' title on my status window, It might have a connection with that.
Anyways. I have a lot to research.
Standing infront of the thousands of soldiers that are in formation. Amazement naturally flowed from my mouth.
"Amazing..." I muttered.
The feeling of seeing this many soldiers and knights is something not to be underestimated. The pressure and aura that they have is truly worthy to be called a Legion.
The Minister went infront of the thousands of soldiers and gave a speech. It was not long, but a short speech that raised their morale to a great extent.
Even from a far, I could feel the fire in their hearts.
After a few minutes, the whole Legion separated. A thousand went to the north, another to the east, and south and the last, remained in the field. They are Knight Sead, that is assigned to protect the Royal Family.
I watched them all move in one unit from the top of the 'Outer Wall', the broadest wall of the Kingdom of Memphis.
"Have you said your farewells?" A voice called out to me.
I didn't look back as I already know who the person is.
"Why must I say my farewells?" I asked.
"He seems fond of you, I thought that you've created a good relationship with him"
Funnily enough, they said the same thing about each other.
I shrugged my shoulder and turned around.
"I have paid my debts" I said as I turned towards the person, the man with purple-hair and green eyes, towards the Count Vinceral.
"But, I would like another work" I added.
"Workaholic? It doesn't matter. I've got the right job you want" he said.
The Count hasn't told me anything when I asked him for the reason of his fondness of me. He only shrugged his shoulders or turned silent.
But, he did tell me that he would support me in return for not telling me.
He didn't answer why he would that far either.
"I will support you to the best of my abilities" he said, his eyes showed determination and seriousness.
"In return, do you best to help this Kingdom" he added.
He also gave me a choice; either to look for jobs that I want myself, and he will still support me. Or he would pick the job, and I should do my utmost at them.
Well, both are good. Especially the first one. But, I knew that it would take time if I pick the job myself. So the obvious anger is the latter one.
Knowing the count wants best to this Kingdom. He would put me in places where the Kingdom would benefit the most, that is, after considering my skill and talent.
If I can't do it, he wouldn't put me there. A job that I can easily do, and fit me as well.
The answer?
"I gave the recommendations. You would need to train for a few months though, but after that, you'd be a certified Butler"
Yeah, a servant. A butler. A job which I would be good at? Nah, it's a job I'm worst at. But the place is the ideal place where I'd work.
"You'll be a butler for one of His Majesty's child. You better not make any mess" the count said as he patted my shoulder.
The Royal Palace...
I don't know if it's a good timing, or the count knew what I was thinking. But either way, I have found my way towards the Lion's den.
A few months, would just be a work in the park.
