Day Fifty-Six:

"Ahh... I'm hungry"

As my stomach growled in hunger. I hastened my phase- looking for a good restaurant. It took me quite a while and a distance to find the one that suited my fancy, it's a restaurant for adventurers, selling dishes made from monster's meat and innards, holding my grumbling stomach I entered...

'...Was what supposed to happen, yet why am I in a different place?'

I thought to myself. I looked around the restaurant I'm currently in. Fancy designs, waiters, and waitresses silently taking orders. Well-dressed people with different types of crests rest on their chest eating or giving their orders. Dishes that wouldn't even satiate my hunger were plated atop their tables. I then looked towards my table, a fish fillet kind of dish resting on the white plate, different silverwares rest beside it.

"Mr. Kaiser, are you listening?"

Hearing a voice called out to me, I look up and saw a woman with blue hair and eyes. She was Ms. Dawn, the maid serving the second princess. She wore a gorgeous purple dress that shows the curvy lines of her body.

"Mr. Kaiser, You're not listening at all!"

Hearing her frustrated voice. I recalled how I get myself in this situation.

After leaving the Adventurers Guild, I was planning to eat at the restaurant that I saw, the pub for adventurers. But before I could enter, a voice called out to me. It was Ms. Dawn in her maid uniform. I greeted her at that time, and we talked for quite a bit. I was planning to leave after the small talk and eat, but before I could do so, she grabbed my arm and dragged me to this restaurant after changing to her dress. Of course, I was not left untouched, she made me change to a formal suit. I did so and changed, wearing an all-black suit, tie, shoes, pants, and inner-shirt. It was one of the clothes the count gave me. And before I know it, I was already sitting in front of her.

"Ms. Dawn, why did you bring me here again?"

I asked pressing on my aching temple.

"Haven't I told you that earlier? You weren't listening to a single word I've said...?"

'I was. How do you expect me not to listen when you keep blabbering...'

I thought, but I didn't voice it out.

"I was, It just didn't register in my mind. Someone suddenly dragged me to a restaurant for nobles without telling me anything, it gave me quite the shock you see"

"...Ah-, My apologies"

Startled by my words she immediately apologized and slightly bowed her head.

"It was just such an urgent matter that I forgot to tell you earlier"

"What's done is done. So? Why was I invited to such a fancy date?"

"Date... No, nevermind that"

When she heard the word date, Ms. Dawn frowned, but immediately corrected her expression.

"When will you show yourself to My Lady? It's been a month already, yet you have not shown yourself at all. The knights and other maids are starting to think that you have other motives"

She said pointing her fork at me. I already expected this question, so I have quite the good reason for it, two to be exact.

I could tell her that I'm following the Count's orders, which I'm not. But even if she confirm it to the Count, he would just acknowledge it. The count already permitted me to use his name, as long as I don't destroy it.

I could also reason about the unknown man following-no, stalking the princess every day, but she might raise countless questions why I didn't tell her or anyone about that...

'What to do...'

"Are you someone we could trust?"

Ms. Dawn said, her eyes fierce as she looked at me.

'When did I ever say I am trustworthy? Even the count doesn't trust me much'

Thinking of those, I answered her, confidence filling my voice.

"I am"

"..."

Hearing my confident answer. Ms. Dawn pursed her lips and stared quietly into my eyes. I didn't avoid her gaze and calmly look back into her sapphire-blue eyes. Time flowed slowly between us, and after blinking, Ms. Dawn hesitantly opened her mouth.

"...I was planning on telling My Lady's past after the first day if you showed yourself. But I decided against it. I can't trust you"

"..."

"I'll say it again Mr. Kaiser. I can't trust you. I can't trust you with My Lady's past, care, or at anything"

"..."

"Show yourself to her, if she took a liking to you, then I will do as you asked"

Her voice was serious as she said this. The only thing I could do was listen and look her in the eye as she gaze back at me. And after finishing her words, she called for the bill, stood up, and left the restaurant.

"That was quite one-sided..." I faintly muttered. Looking at where Ms. Dawn sat before.

"Ahh...at least she paid for the meal..."

Sighing, I rested my back on the chair's backrest.

'In the end, she didn't get the answer she wants. I'm sure she would act the same as before tomorrow and the following days though. That's how they differentiate between personal and work'

'I should probably get ready, I might be kicked out as a candidate for the princess' servants'

"But before that, eating is the priority. I'm really hungry"

Resolving myself. I devoured the meal elegantly and left the restaurant. I headed back to the Servant Course dormitory, it didn't take me long as the place we ate at was at the 'Central Plaza'.

As I walked on the side of the road, a white carriage passed by me. It has the Memphis Kingdom's crest and is led by four white horses.

"...So, she was with her princess... huh"

I muttered as I followed the carriage disappear in the distance with my eyes. And as the carriage turn to a corner-

'What?'

-something move underneath the carriage, and the carriage was no longer visible.

'Something... No- it was a person...'

I thought as I tried to remember the figure below the carriage.

'There was a black fabric touching the ground. It can't be something that they put there as it's the symbol of royalty... Was it that bastard?'

"I might be wrong...but, I'm 99% sure I'm right"

"It's finally time to introduce myself to the princess"

With expectations in my chuuni heart. I walked to a dark alley and merged with the darkness. I've been using this skill continuously during this one month, and now it can exert better performance than before.

As I travel by warping from shadow to shadow, a smiled appeared on my face, It was just a few days ago since I leveled it up to 10. And a month ago since I got my first level 10, now I got 2. I don't know if I can consider that fast or not. But having two level 10 skills makes me smile.

After a few minutes of jumping through shadows, I finally caught up to the carriage. I didn't recklessly entered the shadow of the carriage, instead I watched from a distance. Based on what I can see, that crazy dude has not reach level 10 on the skill he's using.

As the carriage approach the palace, I slowly and carefully went nearer and nearer towards the carriage. If the crazy bastard noticed me, I would have to wait for quite a time again. I only have a couple or three months left. I don't have the luxury to find another job and enter the palace. War is slowly but surely approaching this Kingdom.

Finally I'm inside the carriage's shadow, the crazy dude didn't noticed my presence, as well as the knights that escort the princess.

'I would be in great trouble if they could detect me and not this dude though...'

Thinking those, I looked at the robed man drooling while looking at the Second Princess with fanatical eyes.

"You'll finally be mine..."

The man said, wiping the saliva that formed in his mouth.

"Hukukukukhu! I'll finally have you...!"

'Isn't that something you should say when you're infront of her?'

I thought as I readied myself for combat. It might take long before this dude attack, but, it's not bad to be ready. I warp to the princess's shadow and watched the man as he moved from the overlapping shadows. I watched and waited as the Ms. Dawn, the princess and the other maids along with the female knights entered a mansion so big, I could mistake it for a palace.

I waited and waited for the time to passed. Watching the man do his thing was unpleasant for the eyes, but as I have bleach in my room in the dormitory, I decided to use it once again after this is done.

Time passed. The three suns went down and night came. I was surprised as how the other maids left the mansion and didn't return, I thought we were discovered, but when the knights left as well, I sighed in relief.

"Though they left a few guards outside the mansion, isn't the defense of this princess too lacking?"

"And what's with the lights? Is she going sleeping already?"

Questions keep popping out of my mind when night came. But I ignored them for now, the crazy dude was now able to move more freely when night came and the light killed. The princess's room was dark as well, only the moonlight illuminate it.

Ms. Dawn helped the princess changed to her pajama, and I have to leave her shadow temporarily.

"Are you feeling well, My Lady?"

"I am"

"...Why did you suddenly want to go to 'Middle Ring' earlier?"

"..."

"If My Lady does not wish to say it, then I shall wait for you to speak of it"

Their coversation ended in such. And I returned to the princess's shadow. Like a Dark-Knight Protecting his princess, I readied my beloved dagger and -Fate-.

If that dude plan to attack, it would be when the princess and Ms. Dawn fell asleep. I have to carefully make this situation favorable.

Thinking so, I control the mana inside me, flowing from my heart to my abdomen and through the other part of my body, I then make flow through my veins towards my hands- covering -Fate- with my magic power.

"Now then. I wonder how I can fare using this?"

I whispered quietly as I closed my eyes and activated my skills.
