Turning back time when Eleonora was still dreaming.
Clack...
Clack...
Clack...
Long confident stride of steps echoed in a dark hall, a young man with black hair and eyes was walking a long hall. He wore a black tailcoat, and pants, a white long-sleeve innerwear, and brown gloves. if someone unfamiliar with the place saw him walking through it, they would have thought of him as someone who had lived there for a long time.
With his every step it echoed, yet not a single soul appeared. To the young man, Kaiser, such an event was akin to a blessing. He didn't want to uselessly exert his energy by fighting others, to begin with.
He knew that the man that took Eleonora was someone he could not beat; thus he was planning on attacking the man off-guard. Although he had not trained for long, using -Fate- in his current state was akin to using it as if it was part of his body, his mastery has gone up to such a degree due to the activations of his skills.
Kaiser let the threads that formed due to the mana around, to search the surroundings if there's any path he could take. He spread it around in a circular way in about 20 meters, him as the center. Doing so enabled him to grasp the surrounding. Like a spider waiting for its prey to enter its webs, Kaiser waited as his threads touched the surrounding area until finally, finding his objective.
30 meters below him, a basement could be found. Kaiser didn't think twice and immediately went there, his gait is slow yet big, every step he takes would echo. Yet for some reason, it did not do so this time. He walked as if owning the place, confident in the direction, and after walking for quite a while...
"Hostiles...huh"
...he arrived in front of a door, leading to the basement. But unlike the inside of the mansion where there was not even a ghost. The basement is packed ton of them.
Kaiser without hesitation opened the iron door.
"Ah-?"
"..."
The people inside stared in his direction the moment the door opened. They wore thick grey robes covering their heads, and a symbol with skulls and bones spread around in front of a faceless woman could be seen on the back of their robes. The robed people seeing him enter wore shocked expressions on their faces. But Kaiser didn't pay them even an ounce of interest as he passed by them. He continued his walk towards the inner-most part of the basement.
"..."
"..."
"..."
"Khm... W-who are you?!"
But as expected of guards(?), they quickly recovered. One of the robed people faked a cough, took out a stick like a wand, before speaking. The others seeing their comrade's actions came to their senses as well. They took out weapons of a different kind. Maces short-swords, knives, wands, etc. And blocked his way.
"I-I said who are you?!"
The first robed man to speak earlier pointed the tip of the wand towards Kaiser. He glared at him as if Kaiser was his parent's enemy. But, even that didn't faze him, Kaiser did stop walking as his path was blocked by a lot of people, but he just stood there calmly, like an unperturbed lake without a ripple. He stared at the robed man in front of him.
"Answer me!"
Turning red in anger, the first robed man shouted.
"I am but a lowly servant"
Bowing as he put a hand on his chest and the other behind him, Kaiser answered so. His graceful movements showed the few months of etiquette lessons that he so painstakingly learned.
"...Why are you here?!"
A robed person holding a mace asked, based on the voice alone the person could easily be identified as a woman. Kaiser looked towards her, and answered, his hands still on his chest and the other on his back.
"I came looking for a lost kitten. May I inquire if you have seen one enter this place?"
He said, without a change in tone in his voice. His eyes as dark as the abyss, looked at the robed woman as if peering at her very existence.
Flinch!
The robed woman flinched and held her mace tighter, she took a stance the moment their eyes met. Seeing her, the others did the same. The mages chanted spells, and the warriors took their stances, not one of them forward, waiting for the magic to finish.
"O flames..."
"...grant the wind"
"Protector...."
'Arias' of different magic systems chorused as the magicians chanted. Based on the 'Arias' alone, the spell they are making is quite the strong one. But Kaiser hearing the long chanting slightly tilted his head. Even without showing any emotions, one could tell that he was confused about something.
"?"
The robed woman tilted her head as well, seeing Kaiser doing so. He then slowly opened his mouth to speak.
"Long"
He said. The robed people around him wondered as to what he meant, but what happened next made them realize what it was.
Plop-
Thud-
"...Huh? Eh?"
"How...?"
One by one, the robed people were beheaded, their bodies plopped to the ground as if puppets losing all of their strings.
Clack...
Clack...
Clack...
His steps continued.
The robed people fell lifeless to the ground, and a pool of red liquid dyed the stone floor. Kaiser turned to a corner and gave a quick glance back. Numerous heads and limbs littered the ground, and blood dyeing them red. Not a single one of the robed people were left alive in the c*****e that he left. And due to the light of the basement room where the robed people are, threads coated in blood could be seen spread around the room, it reflected the light making it more noticeable. And upon closer inspection, the threads were vibrating to a speed unknown to the naked eyes of a normal person; thus creating a blade that was not a blade.
Clack...
Clack...
Clack...
Kaiser, without a stain of blood nor signs of injuries, continued his s*******r as he moved deeper and deeper in the basement. It was quite a questionable thing, how a basement this big was inside a noble's house, a high-ranking one at that.
"Marquis George Von Urman"
One of the 4 marquis houses in the Kingdom of Memphis, a house based on the eastern part of the Kingdom where they defended the 'Scorch Fortress' against monsters. Kaiser pondered the reasons why such a loyal retainer of the Kingdom would kidnap Eleonora, using 'Quick Calculation' it didn't take long for him to arrive at an answer.
"Greg Urman"
The son of Marquis George Von Urman, the firstborn. And said to be one of the Kingdom's most talented knights, a future pillar. Although not many knew this fact, he was one of the top candidates for the princesses' betrothal. He was not only considered Eleonora's fiancée to be but also Vanessa, the third princess.
Kaiser recalled the one month he spent observing Eleonora and the madman.
Eleonora who had no friends was always alone, for a princess hated by many, not having an entourage in the academy surrounding her is quite a spectacular sight for Kaiser who expected cliché scenarios. But she was always alone, the only time she wasn't, was when she was with her servants. And... When Greg would approach her. Though Eleonora outright ignored him as if he was air, Kaiser could feel that he was feeling happy with the treatment.
Kaiser didn't know the madman's face as it was veiled in darkness, like a mask covering his identity. That's why he could only compare and contrast the people he saw, and Greg Urman became the top list due to his excellence of being a closet degenerate. But, as he have no proof, he could only watch. And with the greatest clue being the Marquis Urman's mansion, Kaiser was sure that the madman was him, ad his father was defending the eastern border.
"Basta-..."
Thud-
Kaiser was once again in the center of headless corpses, but this time he was covered in dark red liquid, and parts of his butler suit were scratched. Thankfully it's not noticeable. Kaiser washed his blood-covered face using 'Everyday Water Magic' and dried them using a towel inside his storage.
Clack-
He stopped in front of a giant-looking Iron door.
"..."
Kaiser didn't, no, couldn't use shadow assimilation to infiltrate the mansion, as it was covered in dark men, preventing him from entering the shadows; thus making him walk his way towards the deepest part of the basement.
"It's about time"
He muttered then vanished into the darkness.
