Noon came and the training of the second princess and her entourage came to a halt.
"Let's take a short break"
With those words from the Count, Dawn immediately rushed towards her princess. She supported the armor covered princess and made her seat.
"Are you okay, My Lady?"
She asked, worry and anxiety filled her.
"Haa... I am"
Eleonora answered, exhaustion evident from her tone.
"Are you injured anywhere?
"My hand... It bled quite a bit"
"...Ah-, w-wait here for a bit My Lady. I'll call for a healer immediately!"
"Unnecessary. A potion would be enough"
"I-I'll ask for somene to get one right away!"
With those words, Dawn call her colleague and told her the situation. With a slight panic and worry, the maid left in a hurry. After a few moments of waiting, a bottle containing high-grade healing potion was brought.
Daw immediately opened the bottle and apply the liquid to the bleeding hand of the princess.
"This will sting a bit My Lady. Bear with it for a bit"
"Ugh..."
As the High-Grade Healing Potion do its job. The other maid that brought the potion carefully brushed the sweat that accumulated on Eleonora's face.
"Done. How do you feel My Lady?"
"Better"
"I'm glad..."
"...Rest for now"
"..." "..."
"What?"
"N-nothing My Lady. We will rest as you've ordered"
Saying those, Dawn looked at the maid beside her, and the maid stared back at her. Both of them looked confused.
"She said to rest? Didn't she?"
The maid whispered to Dawn as they went towards the other maids.
''I...think we've heard it right"
''Dawn, did the princess ate something bad?''
''...If she had, she wouldn't say that word though"
''She's been acting strange since early morning... I feel like the world will end...''
''I told you before that the princess was a sweet and caring child didn't I?''
''...It's hard to believe it considering how she treats us you know?''
''...That might be so... Still, maybe the princess must've reverted back to her previous self. She have gained interest on something besides magic''
''She did say that she wants to get stronger... Why do you think she want to be stronger than she already is?''
''I don't know... I might be together with the princess since she was but a toddler, but I can't read her thoughts''
''Haa... Anyways, it's good for us. Let's just enjoy this short calm for now... I'll tell the others as well''
''Okay. I'll just get another towel for the princess, then I'll join you as well''
The two nod at each other then separated. Dawn headed towards the inner part of the manor, looking for a certain butler. Dawn walked around the 1st floor and asked some soldiers and servants that she encounter. And after a few minutes of asking, she finally found where the towels were kept. She took two towels and headed back towards the field, but before she arrived, a certain voice calld out to her. Dawn immediately looked back and bowed her head.
"Greetings, Count Vinceral"
"Hm. Dawn Velan"
Dawn became nervous as the Count spoke of her name, she slightly look up as the Count continue his words.
"You are the person that asked His Majesty to change princess Eleonora's personal servant correct?"
Dawn lowered her head again, she was startled as she heard the Count's words, but she quickly composed herself and nod. There's nothing to hide to the count who served as the Memphis Royalty's shield and sword.
"Yes. I asked His Majesty the King, to replace me"
She said, her head still lowered.
"Why? Is it because of the mischievous things that the Princess shouldn't have done as a member of the Royal family?. Is that the reason why you, the personal servant of the princess for almost 18 years desired to leave?"
Dawn who heard the Count's question, bit her lips. Even if her princess act in suc way, she wanted to stay with her... But the illness that she have not told anyone kept her from doing so.
The only one who knew was the physician that she consults, and she didn't blabbed about it either. Although she had been sick for almost 6 years, and was supposed to die 2 years after the first symptoms appeared. Due to the miraculously things that happened to her, she alays recovered whenever she was at death's door. Even her physician couldn't understand how she was able to prolonged her life to almost 4 years.
Dawn was glad that she was able to be together with the princess for much longer time than she was supposed to. But, she also knows that the miracles that kept happening to her wouldn't last. She felt it as the disease inside her was slowly but surely tearing her apart from inside-out. Dawn was sure that her time is up, and only a few weeks was all she had and that's the longest. She didn't know if the miracle happened to her earlier or if it was just a dream. But she knew that her time decreased to a great extent.
"...That's why I need someone to replace me... Someone better and stronger..."
She said, looking at the Count as she told everything to him, the reason for why she asked the King for such a request, the reason why she didn't even tell the King himself nor anyone else until now about her situation. Her illness that gave her hell for the past years... And her wish to change her princess. Dawn told this to the Count, and the Count listened to her.
"...You have met him, haven't you?"
The Count asked, his words didn't dictate who he was referring to, but Dawn understood who he meant. There's only one person that the Count could mean in this situation, that's why she nod her head.
"What do you think of him?"
"What I think of him...?"
"Hm. Is he qualified to serve the princess?"
Dawn pursed her lips, and thought about the person that the Count is referring to. The young man with black hair and eyes, Kaiser.
When Dawn first saw the young man standing infront of Frill's door, she felt a sense of familiarity to him, she couldn't really point out why. She felt that she have known the young man for a very long time. And when their gazes locked, she felt fear crept up her heart, at the same time she felt pity. It was well known that black eyes were the symbol of the Goddess Reil's blessing and the people that bore such blessing were incarnations of destruction. Misfortune would follow along them like a shadow created by the brightest light.
That was how Dawn felt towards him when they first met. But the more they interact the more she could see that he was kind and easy to approach. Many of her colleagues have already been acquainted with him. But despite that, he does not seem to have an inkling of intention to introduce himself to the princess. Dawn doesn't know where Kaiser went whenever the princess arrive, but everytime Dawn look inside her pocket after going back to the mansion, a letter addressed to her would be there, and vague reports would always be written in it.
Dawn, even in this one month that she have interacted with Kaiser, still does not know how to feel nor think about him. 'He was a pain' was all she could think. She couldn't trust him. She can't trust someone who disappears out of the blue and only return when the next day began.
"...I see"
Was all the Count could say as he listened to her. Even he does not trust the young man, but he couldn't do anything as that man told him to support him.
"Well, why don't you talk to him about what you feel? He might changed his mind"
"...I'll try"
"Good luck"
The Count started walking once again, Dawn lowered her had once again and began walking. But after a few steps he called out.
"He's headed to the Adventurer's guild. Why don't you treat him to a fancy restaurant? You might convince him to agree or anwer your questions"
"..."
"Worry not, James would give you the clothes and money that you need. Well then, I'll head back to the field and train the princess"
Saying so, the Count finally left. Leaving Dawn and James.
"I'll inform the others that you have left for a quick mission"
"...Thanks, Mr. James"
"You should leave immediately, a carriage is waiting for you outside. I'll deliver the dress and money after I inform them"
"..."
James left after saying so, and Dawn was left. She was confused. She couldn't undestand why they wanted her to talk to Kaiser immediately, and why go so far as to make the place a fancy restaurant. Questions after questions popped inside her head as she contemplate on the reason why. But after a minute or two, she decided to follow the Count's words for now. She rode the carriage and it brought her infront of the Adventurers Guild.
Different kinds of races, ages, classes entered and exit the place. And after a few minutes of waiting a wagon appeared carrying a young man with black hair and eyes, fair skin tone and a face that couldn't be said to be handsome nor ugly, his expression the same as usual being the expressionless one. He wore a brown leather armor on his chest, elbow and knee guards, and a pair of black hunting boots.
"Mr. Ka-"
Dawn immediately identified the young man and tried to call out, but the young man entered the guild's building while carrying bundles of herbs. Dawn decided to wait outside, as she can't enter while wearing the maid clothing that she has. And after a few moments, the young man - Kaiser, left the building. Dawn followed behind him using the carriage, she wanted to know where he was heading, and upon seeing that he was about to enter a pub, she immediately called him.
"Mr. Kaiser!"
