Chapter 5:

1149 Words
Alexis’s POV: I watch him leave my hospital room. He must be questioning everything, just like me. In the history of our species, there has never been a wolf with two mates. This is a unique situation, and I feel it will really change the dynamic around here. Connor and I are very dominant. We normally find very submissive wolves when we want to spice things up. I do not why, but I get the feeling the girl he saved isn’t submissive. She seemed to be strong even though she was passed out. I hope the prophecy book belonging to Teresa’s mother has answers to all our questions. I am broken from my thoughts when the head nurse, Jessica, walks into the room. “Are you ready to move into the mystery woman’s room?” she asks with a probing look.  I say yes, as I climb into the chair. I know she is searching for answers, but I do not have any to give her. We still haven't figured everything out. She wheels me to the girl's room and stops next to the girl's bed. I thank her as she leaves the room. I look up at my saline bag, wishing it wasn’t still pumping fluids into my body. I hate being sedated; however, it is necessary when Alice loses it. I am sorry I lost control. You know how I am when Connor gets hurt. I know, but you caused people to question things. They know I act like that when he is hurt and now, I am randomly acting like this over some rando. I know. It was poor timing. Hopefully, it doesn’t cause too many issues. This whole thing is going to cause issues. We are going to have to explain how we are mated to another mate and what this means for the pack. I just hope she wakes up soon, so we can figure out who she is. Since she came in with only leggings and a sports bra on, she didn’t have anything we could use to identify her. She had a watch on, but without her phone, it doesn’t help us much. I sent some of the pack warriors out to check the area Connor found her in. I am hoping they can find something, but I haven’t heard from Theo or Layla. It is thirty minutes past eight and I am so exhausted. Even though I was forced to sleep, it was a restless sleep and I feel like my mind didn’t get any rest. Connor made the announcement for a pack meeting and it starts in an hour and a half, so I might be able to squeeze in a power nap. I look up to the girl as I move closer to her bed. She has no idea what world she just stepped into and we are going to deal with the potential fallout when she wakes. We have similar body types. I think I am about two or three inches taller than her, but our body build is the same. Muscular and curvy. I am in love with her beautiful hair. I have always found girls with red hair, unique and mysterious. I am sure the fact that we don’t know much about her is adding to her appeal. I hope she has green eyes. Her red hair would just make it pop more. She has round, plump lips and she seems to be peacefully sleeping. I know they have her on pain medication, but I can only pray to the Moon Goddess that she isn’t in too much pain. My eyes are starting to close, and I know I am not going to be able to stay away much longer. I know I should probably lay on the couch, but I decide to climb into bed with her. I am awoken by Teresa softly nudging my leg. Luckily, I generally don’t startle to wake. “Is everything okay?” “Everything is fine, Luna. Your fluids are finished. I need to take your IV out. We are taking her to get a cat scan and MRI, to make sure there wasn’t any head trauma that didn’t show up in the first scans. Also, it is nearly ten, you need to get ready for the pack meeting.” “Oh s**t. I didn’t meant to sleep that long. Thank you for taking care of her and helping us during this time. I don’t know what is meant to happen, but I am glad you found your way to us.” She nods as she removes my IV. “I am glad I am able to help. My mother never told me why I was supposed to come to your pack. This makes more sense now. I will keep you posted on her results.” I climb out of my mate’s bed and give Teresa a small smile before leaving the room to head to the packhouse. Along the way, I can feel eyes on me. The pack knows something is up and they are looking for answers. The ones that meet my eyes, give small bows of respect, but quickly move along. I mental face palm because I didn’t even look at myself before I left the hospital. I am sure I have dark circles under my eyes even with the fluids to flush the sedatives. I finally make it to the packhouse and am immediately rushed when I walk through the door. Mallory is there with food and I am sure, questions. I take the sandwich from her and gesture for her to follow me to my room. She hasn’t said anything, but I can feel her eyes boring into the back of my head. Why hasn’t Derik answered her questions. I don’t have time for this. We walk into my room and she stops me. “Spill it!!” she exclaims. “What do you know?” I ask her as I head to the bathroom to shower. She follows me and jumps up on our bathroom counter. She starts examining her face in the mirror, as she explains, “Derik told me Connor found a girl in the forest. He brought her to the pack hospital because she had been bit by a rogue. He told me you freaked out when you saw her, and he had to restrain with Andrew until they could sedate you. Derik said he couldn’t say anything more because the Alpha told him not to. He said we would know soon because Connor and you were announcing it at the pack meeting.”
