Connor's POV:
I know everyone is struggling with this revelation. I have accepted that I have two mates and to be honest, I think Lexi has as well. What we are caught off guard by is what this means for us and the pack. Why are we going to be more powerful? I see this as a huge target on our back, as well as one more person an enemy could use against us.
My biggest concern is how the pack is going to take the news. Are they going to accept it or are we going to have animosity throughout the pack? Our pack members are pretty close with each other and rely heavily on things running smoothly. This is deifnitly going to make things more difficult.
We walk into the clearing. I know we are a few minutes late and the pack is radiating some exceptionally nervous energy. We have never been late for a pack meeting. It is my fault because I lost track of time. I should have showered after I left the hospital. However, as soon as Teresa brought me her mother’s prophecy book, I couldn’t put it down. I was hoping to find more answers.
**Flash Back**
As I am walking to the packhouse, Teresa runs up to me and hands me an old, dusty tomb. It is large for a book of prophecies. She bows her respect and sprints off toward the hospital. I open it and am blown away by how many prophecies Teresa’s mother had. Teresa said they crossed them off when they came true. I close the book and head into the packhouse. I wonder if any of them haven’t come true?
As I walk into my office, I am greeted with, “Alpha.” I sit down and start explaining everything that has transpired over the evening. I am interrupted here and there with questions, which has me on edge. Normally, I would reprimand anyone who would dare to interrupt me, but most of the interruptions come from my father. I know he is just looking for us and the well-being of the pack.
The room has fallen silent with the revelation that Teresa’s mother was a witch and the prophecy book. I hadn’t even had a chance to explain this to my beta and gamma. I have placed the book in the middle of my desk, and everyone seems to be staring at it as they process the news. I open the book to the back knowing Teresa said it was the last one in the prophecy.
My curiosity gets the better of me and I look at a couple of the previous pages. They are all crossed out and the prophecy in the back is the only one left. I read it aloud:
‘The Triumvirate Prophecy: The Three Mates
There will be a daughter blessed by the Moon Goddess herself. She will have a half-crescent moon birthmark on the base of her neck. It will be small but will match the same birthmark as the Moon Goddess herself. She is destined to be mated to an Alpha and Luna and together they will create the Triumvirate. The Triumvirate will be the most powerful leaders of the werewolf kind.’
I look up after I finish reading it out loud. This is it? I thought there was more. I know this already. I mind link Teresa.
C: Are there any pages missing?
T: No, Alpha, not that I know of. Is there something wrong?
C: The only thing we weren’t aware of was that the girl has been blessed by the Moon Goddess. If she has the same birthmark as the Moon Goddess, what does that mean? We have pretty much figured all of this out. I am not sure how this is supposed to give us more power?
T: I am not sure Alpha. My mother didn’t tell me everything. I didn’t even realize that you would be the Alpha the prophecy was referring to. There are more pages in the book. Is there wear and tear on them?
C: Yes, there is. The next page looks like it has similar wear and tear.
T: I bet there is more. My mother must have cloaked it; however, I am unsure of why she did this. There must be something that she wanted only someone who could uncloak it to see.
C: Can you uncloak it?
T: I do not possess all the abilities my mother had. She only passed on her healing knowledge and I have basic powers. My werewolf DNA was my dominate trait and I received minimal magic.
C: Thank you, Teresa. Please, let me know if anything changes with either of the girls.
T: Yes, Alpha.
Cutting the mind link, I explain what Teresa said to everyone.
“Basically, what you are saying is we need to find a witch. One we can trust and that is willing to uncloak the rest of the prophecy,” states Victor.
My father is the one to reply, “If that is what we have to do, that is what we must do. I know some of you are more hesitant to seek help from a witch, but we have to assume there is something that could be coming. We need to be prepared.”
A few of the Elders nod, however, Gage, is not convinced. “You know why our kind doesn’t trust witches. We must handle this with extreme caution. The witch could use this new knowledge against us and try to destroy what we have built.”
Surprisingly, Thoams, is the one who answers with his pessimism, “I agree with Gage. We have to be wary of this entire situation. A pack member has lied about where she comes from and now, she is saying the book could be cloaked. I find all of this very fishy.”
“Enough, we don’t have time to debate this. We are going to find a witch. Father, will you reach out to our allies? We need to see if anyone has any connections with a witch.” I am given some irritated glances at my statement. I know they are just upset because I am not preceding with more caution.
My father nods his head. “I think reaching out to allies is a wise choice. They might already have a witch they work with and trust.
I know the Elders are nervous given our past with the Dark Witch and where our species originates from, but we have to know if there is more to the prophecy. “I know most of you would like to proceed with more caution. However, the Dark Witch’s Curse happened thousands of years ago. We need to be ready encase Lexi and I’s second mate is going to place a target on our backs. What if someone else knows about the prophecy. I highly doubt that Teresa’s mother was the only prophetic witch.”
“You make a great point, Alpha. I think my fellow Elders are just concerned with trusting a witch. Teresa is a very valuable member of our pack. I am not happy that she lied about her heritage, but I am thankful she did. We were a different back when you first took over. I believe she would have been shunned. No offense to William, but we were a little more ruthless back then. We have grown into a better way,” states Zion.
I hear a knock at the door, assuming it is Lexi, I tell her to come on in.
