Alexis's POV:
I shut the water off and get out to dry off. “That is all true. Please don’t freak out because I am tired and have a massive headache. The girl that Connor brought home, is our second mate.”
Mallory wheels around with an “O” face. “What? How is that possible?”
I walk out into my closet to pick out an outfit for the pack meeting. “We are not sure. Teresa has a prophecy book she inherited from her mother, who was a witch.” She starts to interrupt me and I stop her. “That is a story for a different time. There is a prophecy in there about the three of us and she realized what was going on when I reacted the way I did. She confirmed it when she found a birthmark on the back of her neck.”
I am dressed in a black pair of leggings and a white cut off with a blue sports bra. I should probably dress a little more formal, but I need to run after this. I don’t feel like changing before having to go for my run. Running will be nice. I haven’t ran for a couple of days now. I know. I just need a break.
I walk back into the bathroom and attempt to cover the dark circles under my eyes and put a little makeup on. I don’t wear much but since this is a pack meeting, I need to look more presentable. I know Mallory is still lost in thought, as she hasn’t said anything. “I know this is a lot and I still don’t know everything because Connor asked me to stay with her. She is in a coma and they are not sure why. She is fine other than that. They were able to stop the transition. They are doing some more scans to see if they missed anything.”
“This is going to stress out the pack. We have never had a wolf with more than one mate, let alone you both having one and it being the same one,” she says lost in thought.
“I agree. I just hope they will understand everything once we figure it out. We are thankful for Teresa and her mother’s prophecy because it gives us answers. I just don’t know if we are going to like them, just yet.”
She stares at me for a moment before she pushes a hair behind my ear. “The Moon Goddess has never thrown anything at us that we couldn’t handle. We will figure this out too.” She gives me a kiss on the forehead and jumps off the counter. “We need to make the guys sandwiches and tell them to shower.”
I follow her out of the bathroom and notice the time on the clock on my side table. “s**t, they only have fifteen minutes.”
We both rush down the stairs. She heads to the kitchen to make sandwiches, as I head to his office. I knock on the door and hear Connor say to come in. I open the door and smile at all the men in his office. It has been a while since they have all been together like this. All the men bow their respect and say, “Luna.”
“I don’t mean to interrupt, but it is nearly ten and I believe the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma haven’t eaten or showered since arriving home this morning. The pack meeting is supposed to start in ten minutes,” I say as I nod at Connor. I give him a wink as I can see all the dirt and grim on his face.
He smiles back, returning the wink. “I have to agree with my Luna. I need to be somewhat presentable before the pack and unfortunately, we don’t have enough time to figure anything else out. Thank you so much for your time and I apologize about the early wake up call.”
Derik and Andrew are the first out of the room. It is hard to be in a stressful situation with the Connor, let alone his dad and all the Elders. I could feel the tension let up as each one of the men left the office. William stops at the door and gives me a hug. “I am so sorry about all of this baby girl.”
He calls me his baby girl because I am youngest out of the three of his kids. Connor and Rebecca are his children. Becca, as we call her, is the Luna of a neighboring pack, Shadow Walkers. She is twenty-six and is William and his wife, Sophia’s, first born. Connor was born a year after is 4 years older than me.
“I know, but we will figure it out. We have to remember the Moon Goddess, does not give us hardships, we cannot handle,” I explain as I release the hug and head toward Connor. William steps out and shuts the door leaving us alone. “We don’t have long, and you need to get in the shower. Mallory is making you a sandwich to hold you over. Is there anything I need to know.”
He gets up tells me to follow him upstairs. As we open the door, Mallory is waiting with his food. He grabs his sandwich and thanks her as we head to our room. He heads to the shower and I follow. “This is our predetermined destiny from the Moon Goddess. We are all three mated to each other. We are to become more powerful than we are and with that, our pack as well. The one thing we cannot figure out, is what all of this means. The prophecy only discusses what we are. I feel like there is more to this prophecy and we have to find it.”
He finishes his shower quickly and goes into the closet to get dressed. This doesn’t make sense. Teresa said she could help us, but this just brings more questions. He comes out buckling his belt and is wearing jeans and a white shirt. “I can already tell you are frustrated. I know this isn’t any additional news than we already knew. There are other pages in the book with wear and tear. The Elders think there is a possibility the pages are cloaked. They are looking for a witch willing to help us.”
He gives me a kiss and grabs my hand. “Come on, we have a pack meeting to lead.”
I nod my head deep in thought about the possibilities of this news. I mean I knew she was our second mate. I just don’t understand how adding a third to our relationship is supposed to make us stronger. Another mate just means another way for someone to hurt us. I hope there is more and it is just cloaked. Why would she cloak it though?
We make it to the clearing a couple of minutes late. I can feel the nervous energy from the pack and see the questioning eyes. Will they understand? Will this divide us?
