Chapter 4: Sleeping Beauty PT 1

Connor’s POV:

I am even more perplexed than I was when I first learned the girl I am cradling in my arms, was also my mate, but she is Lexi’s mate too. How can this be possible? Lexi’s anger finally took over realizing her mate was hurt and could possibly transform without her given consent. I am walking into the hospital now waiting for the doctor to tell me where to take her.

Teresa comes running out of the back from where they took Lexi. She took one look at the sleeping girl’s leg and started barking orders at the nurse while she escorted me to the room. Once we arrived at the room, she asked me to place her on the bed. “Do you know anything about the girl, Alpha,” asked Teresa.

“No, I don’t. She was attacked by a rogue while we were running the border. I do not know who she is, where she came from, or why she was so close to our property. Teresa, I cannot explain this yet, but she is important to Lexi and I. Please try to stop the change if you can. I know she didn’t consent.”

Since she didn’t consent to being bitten and know and accept, she would become a werewolf, her body can reject the change. We do not understand how, but she is Lexi and I’s second mate. I will do anything I can to help save her and keep her safe. Now that Lexi and I are in closer proximity, I can feel more of her emotions. Her rage is finally subsiding, and confusion is replacing the anger. 

Teresa nods at me, understanding I cannot talk about. She turns towards the sleeping beauty on the hospital bed and starts to cut her leggings off. This is my cue to leave. She may be our mate, but she doesn’t understand what is going on and I would not be respecting her if I stayed in the room. We transition back to our human form completely and I sit down in a chair in the hallway to await the news of the young lady in the room just in front of me.

**Flash Back**

After Lexi exclaimed the girl was also her mate, I mind linked Derik and Andrew to meet me at the hospital. I knew Lexi was going to get pissed soon and would go into a fit of rage. Her eyes shift back and forth from golden to pitch black. As soon as her eyes stay pitch black, I know I only have a few seconds before she will start to start tearing things apart.

I mind link the Teresa to let her know what is going on, so they can sedate Lexi. She is generally a sweet person, however, there are those moments when she just loses control. Her wolf, Alice, takes over and goes on a rampage. I cannot stop her since I am still holding our injured mate. She is about to snap when Derik and Andrew appear and grab her arms.

They struggle with Lexi for a couple of minutes before Teresa appears behind them and gives Lexi a diazepam injection. It will depend on how worked up she got before Teresa was able to inject her on whether she will need another one. As wolves, our body temperature causes us to burn through medication faster than a normal human. She is no longer fighting the guys, but she is still struggling to maintain control over Alice.

“Give her another injection Teresa. I would like her to calm down, so when she wakes, she can think a little more rationally,” I state.

“Yes Alpha!” Teresa steps forward again pulling another shot out of her back pocket and gives it to Lexi. Lexi starts to calm down, with her eyes final closing, and the boys are able to release their hold on her. Derik picks her up bridal style and walks with Teresa into the hospital. Andrew turns toward me with a questioning glance.

“What is going on man? Lexi doesn’t act like that normally unless the pack is being attacked or if someone she loves has been injured,” exclaims Andrew.

“She came out of the hospital and stated this girl was also her mate. That is when she started to lose control. She knows there is a possibility she might not make it because she didn’t consent to being bit,” I explain.

“I have to go though. They probably have Lexi in her room.” Looking down at the girl in my arms, “She doesn’t have much longer.” I am so confused. I just hope the Elders and my father can help figure out what is going on.
