Chapter 4: Sleeping Beauty PT 2

1124 Words
Connor's POV:  **Present Time ** I was awoken by Teresa. She was giving me a report on both Lexi and the mysterious girl in the room in front of me. “Alexis, is doing well, considering all things. Her heart rate is elevated, and we had to put her on oxygen due to the distress. I have a feeling she will still have a hard time calming down when she wakes unless you are in the room, Alpha. I feel like we should head there now in case she wakes up early.” “Let’s go. But please tell me about her.” I point to the sleeping girl on the bed through the window. “I will tell you along on the way, Alpha.” I nod to her to continue and follow her to Lexi’s room. “The bite on the girl’s leg was pretty deep. She lost quite a bit of blood before you were able to place the tourniquet on her leg. Luckily, it stopped further blood loss as well as the spread of the rogue’s toxic DNA.” “Will she be okay?” I ask as we walk into the next hallway. They generally put Lexi in a padded room, which keeps her from destroying the hospital during her rampages. “Her leg will be okay. We were able to start infusing blood before the leg started to die. She should have already woken up, but it seems her body has placed her in a deep coma. She still has brain waves, but they are very minimal. Right now, we don’t understand why she hasn’t woken up.” Teresa stops outside the door and turns to me. “What is it, Teresa? I feel like you aren’t saying something.” “With all due respect, Alpha. Based off of what you said earlier and Alexis’s response to her being injured, I have to ask. Is she your mate? And Alexis’s mate?” “I shouldn’t say anything until we know more.” “Alpha, please. I think I may be able to help. I was looking at Lexi through the glass. I feel horrible not being able to figure out what is going on. Finally registering what she said, I snap my head to look at her. “What did you say?” “I haven’t told anyone this because I was worried about how your pack would take the news. I know it wasn’t right of me to lie to you, but I know..” I cut her off starting to get upset knowing she is stalling. “Just tell me.” I grit between my teeth. “My mom is a witch with a direct connection to the Moon Goddess,” she explains as she lowers her head in submission. “How are you a werewolf?” “My mother told me that since my father was a werewolf and she was blessed by the Moon Goddess, then my father’s DNA became more dominant and I was born a werewolf. I am exceptional at my profession because my mother taught me remedies outside of medicine. I mix the use of my mother’s spells and the use of modern medicine.” I look at her dumbfounded on this knowledge and the fact we never knew. I still am not sure why she hid this valuable information from us. We don’t have anything against witches unless they are threatening our pack. “You said you worried we wouldn’t handle the news well. Why did you think we would react negatively? We have never given any reason for you to fear for your or your mother’s life.” “We fled from our previous pack when the Alpha found out my father was mated to a witch. He killed my father when I was twelve and my mother and I barely managed to escape. She was bitten by the beta and suffered for years before she finally could not hold the shift off any longer. During the time in hiding, she trained me.” “How long did she suffer?” “She made it 5 years. Which was right around the time the war broke out between your pack and my former pack, Howling Winds. My mother came up with a plan so I wouldn’t become a rogue. I had to be ready to infiltrate my old pack when you defeated the Alpha. She knew I would be offered the option to join your pack peacefully or become a rogue. My mother died a week before the war ended.” “I continued to wait until the day came when the fighting stopped, and I snuck into the borders. I found a dead wolf and took one of the paws and clawed my chest and my left leg knowing I would be able to heal it quickly. I had one of my mom’s healing potions shoved in my bra. I stumbled to the packhouse crying and asking for help.” “You asked me my name and what had happened. Since you weren’t my Alpha yet, I was able to lie to you since you hadn’t asked me with your Alpha tone. I told you that one of your pack members had attacked me and my father had saved my life. You were pissed, but you believed me. Giving me the option, I chose to go with you and your pack took me to the hospital to help with my wounds.” “Your former doctor was impressed with my healing ability not knowing it was a potion that helped. He was also impressed with my knowledge and asked me to come on as his apprentice. This is where I learned my former training. As you know, when he died, I took over last year.” She finishes her story as I hear Lexi say my name. I don’t have time to fully comprehend Teresa’s story. I am upset she felt the need to hid and lie to us about her origin, however, I understand her fear based off of how her previous Alpha treated her family. I walk into Lexi’s room and head to her bed. She seems to be in control as I bend over and passionately kiss her. I hate giving her sedation to calm her down, but sometimes her and her wolf are a force to be reckoned with. Teresa walks in and clears her throat.
