Chapter 11: Finally Awake PT 1

1217 Words
Alexis's POV: Connor and I are both in her room and she has finally woken up. She seems like she is still groggy, so we have been trying not to hover or bombard her with questions. Teresa came in shortly after she woke up to check her over. She said her reflexes and vitals are normal.  "As you know, my name is Teresa, and I am the doctor here. This is Connor and this is Alexis. They are mat... boyfriend and girlfriend. Do you remember your name and what you were doing before you woke up here?" asks Teresa. Finally, someone asks the question we have all been dying to know. "My name is Sasha Antonov. I also know you are all werewolves. I know Connor is the Alpha and that Alexis, or Lexi, is the Luna. You are both also my destined mate." We all look at her like she has grown two heads. She isn't supposed to know all of that.  Teresa starts to say something, but I interrupt her. "How did you know?" I ask quickly.  "When I was asleep, I was with the Moon Goddess and she explained everything to me. Well almost everything. She said she couldn't tell me the whole thing because she wanted to assure me that I was free to make some of my own choices." I glance over at Connor and he is starting to pale, like he might get sick. Most people who have met the Moon Goddess have been on a spiritual journey and are very important members of our pack. They usually come back with white hair or a section of their hair turns white. They always say that is where the Moon Goddess kissed them. Her hair remains the same auburn color it was when Connor brought her in. “You met the Moon Goddess? What did she tell you?” asks a very stressed Connor. Over the next hour, she explains to us who she is, what happened when she was younger, how she arrived in the woods the night she was attacked, and what transpired when she was in the Moon Goddesses’ grove. She knows a lot of information about our kind and the Moon Goddess. Obviously, it isn’t public information, but the fact that her hair remains the same color, has me doubting her. I know she is my mate, and I shouldn’t, but I know nothing about her other than what she has told us. “Will you excuse us for a moment?” I ask her and nod for Connor and Teresa to follow me in the hall. Sasha replies, “Of course.” As we are walking out of the room, I noticed she was getting into her phone. I wonder if she has a boyfriend or girlfriend. I step into the hallway and walk a bit down the hall before I turn around to discuss things with Teresa and Connor. I know she is human, but I am not taking a chance of her overhearing our conversation. I have my doubts and I want to see if anyone else shares them. “I don’t know how she met the Moon Goddess and returned without being “blessed” by her like the other members of our pack. She has no white hair, but she knows way more than a normal human would know waking up in a pack hospital.” Connor sighs and rubs the back of his neck. “You are right, but she knew who we were before we even introduced ourselves.” He is right and I don’t fully get it. Why would she not be touched the same way as the others? Do you think maybe because she was already blessed? She did say the Moon Goddess said she was a distant descendant of hers. She did. Also, what does that mean. Will she take the Moon Goddess place? I don’t know. I feel like our lives are about to drastically change. Me too. I cut off Alice and I’s conversation. “Alice just suggested that maybe she didn’t have any physical response to entering the Moon Goddess’s grove because she was already blessed and is a distant descendant of hers.” Teresa was the one to respond first, “She did say that. Which has me wondering the answers to more questions. What does that mean for her? Does the power she brings to our pack just her or will that affect you guys as well?” “Unfortunately, we will not know the answers to these questions any time soon. Only time will tell. To be honest, she seems shaken still. And who knows if she will accept us,” Connor says after a few moments of pondering Teresa’s questions. “I think she knows something she isn’t telling us. The prophecy says that we will become the strongest pack in the world. I don’t see how any of the other prophecies in your mother’s book have come true, but this one wouldn’t. She has to transition, which will make her a werewolf, so she has to accept us.” I hate to start a relationship by calling my mate a liar, but she is omitting the truth about something. Alice agrees with me, but she keeps reminding me that she has to be scared. She is only nineteen and was just told that she isn’t a lesbian and that she is mated to two people. While I want to say I completely understand, I know I don’t. Connor’s eyes cloud over and I know he is mind linking with someone. I turn to Teresa and she looks deep in thought. I know she is thinking about all the possibilities Sasha’s arrival and explanation could mean for us. “Teresa, when do you think she can get out of the hospital? She can leave in the next hour or so, as long as her stats stay the same.” “Okay thank you. How is Luca doing?” “Ladies, I am sorry to interrupt, but my Dad has news from our allied packs, and I must join him and the Elders in my office.” Connor kisses me a quick goodbye and takes off towards the packhouse. “He is doing well for being born three weeks early. I know Brittany struggled with her life here, but I am still in owe of the pain and suffering she went through for him to live. There is no doubt in my mind that Andrew would have made me stop to save her life,” Teresa responds as Connor rounds the last corner in the hall. “You really had to cut her open without any anesthesia?” “Luca would have died if I had waited any longer to deliver him. He was suffocating because she wasn’t pumping enough blood, therefore oxygen, to him. Local anesthetics don’t work as well on us and anesthesia wouldn’t have kicked in quick enough with the way our bodies burn it,” she explains.
