Ayla’s POV They kept dragging me further and further away from the lake. I could feel the ground changing beneath my feet as we moved from the muddy shore to harder earth, then to what felt like dense forest floor covered in fallen leaves and twigs. My captors didn't say a single word. Not to me, not to each other. The only sounds were our footsteps, my muffled attempts to struggle, and the occasional snap of branches as we pushed deeper into the woods. I had no idea how far we had gone.
