Listening to Noah's words about liking Miss. Morgan not only seemed ridiculous to me but also wrong. How could he even think that I would feel attracted to another girl that too when Eva was around. I didn't even give a proper look to Miss. Morgan.
I was about to scold him but stopped listening to his words.
“I thought you liked Miss. Brown, but then you requested Miss. Morgan did not address you as Mr. Miller, so I got confused about whom you like or whether you are attracted to both.”
“Though I know you used to get offended over your last name, not anymore. You don't give a damn to such minor things. You don't even have time for all this,” he added.
“I didn't say this to her,” I snarled and moved from there. He came running behind me saying, “Then to whom? Miss Brown? Whose identify the card you stole? Not only this, you made me lie to her that I was with her in the storeroom. So, my initial doubt was right.”
“Stole? When? I found out and gave it to you. And about the storeroom, you know I got a call. I thought she would get offended if she wouldn't see that guy who was around her,” I scrunched my brows and quickly entered the elevator. I pressed the button before he could have come, alas he was fast enough to block my hand.
“Is it? You threatened that receptionist and forced her to give you the card and if she wouldn't have given it to you then you must have fired her. Gosh! Did you see how scared she got?” Noah smirked.
“And honey, about the call then you don't have to fool me. I know that you didn't get any call. So, it means that you have an interest in her, but you are skeptical,” he added.
“A big no! Didn't I say that Eva?” I attempted to say that she is my friend but stopped by him who punched my stomach. I sulked and glared at him who moved at some distance and upped his hand.
“What is this?” I asked with a frown face.
“You didn't officially appoint me in this new company, and we are not in our main company, so it means we are here as friends,” he said and winked at me.
“Well, Mr. Miller. I know Miss Brown was your secretary but the reaction which you both gave to each other was quite fascinating. This same reaction I and my ex give to each other. It's like a killing one,” he grinned.
“So be honest with me. Did you both have some fling?” He next said.
I couldn't answer him. The elevator opened, I quietly moved from there and went inside the cabin where some workers were cleaning the cabin.
“Do it later,” I sat at my seat, closed my eyes and leaned my head at the chair, and thought about Noah's words.
“Adam,” Noah attempted to say and barged inside my cabin.
“Don't talk about her. It makes me sensitive,” I said with a frown face.
“If you still do, then I will talk about your ex, especially about Daniel. Remember how he was two-timing you and then you cried like a child,” I further said.
“Unbelievable!” He muttered and gave me a sharp look. Without reacting, I turned my face.
“I won't comment on your and her personal life. Though I have a different question, It is related to her only. Did you give her a promotion because of the past?” He bluntly asked.
I glared at him for a while then shifted my gaze to my laptop.
“I asked this even after this promotion she resigned, so I got a suspicion,” he arched his brows.
“She sent a resignation letter. It doesn't mean that she has resigned and about the promotion then I didn't expect you to question me about this,” I snapped.
“Even if I haven't taken over this company then too she was going to get a promotion. Didn't you see her record? And yes, the former CEO only recommended her. That time, I didn't even know that she was the same girl who worked with me,” I added annoyingly.
“Fine! Don't be grumpy. What would you do about her resignation letter? Her contract has expired too, so you can't even threaten her,” he said casually.
“Hold on! Why are you sounding like I would need to blackmail her?” I hung my head and held my breath. No! He can't get any idea about whatever is happening in my brain.
“Normally people do, so I thought you also need to,” he casually said.
“I have so many conferences, project tests are pending, a union leader is creating some mess, so I don't have time to do that kind of work. However, I am sure she won't go. She knows how to separate her professional and personal life. It must be her anger or pain, so I am going to wait for a week. Moreover, for the time being, I am going to work from our old office. Here, I need renovation. Also, I have to go to New York,” I didn't entirely lie to him as I am going to manage some time for her from my hectic schedule.
“There I have to attend a conference instead of Aiden. He said that he had something else to do, so he requested me,” I sighed.
“Okay but don't fool me. If you think some tender or project is beneficial for the company then at any cost you get it. And I can say that you would like to have Miss Brown around you. She doesn't only know your secrets, but also she can help you to deal with your post-traumatic stress disorder,” Noah chuckled.
“Further you should never let go of that person who knows your secrets or else they can become a threat to you,” he added.
“Finished?” I rudely said.
Noah hummed and went from there. My mind went back to his question about the resignation. I lied to him that I won't stop her, but I don't have any plans for now.
Then, would I let her go?
No way! I won't let her go this time. As of today after seeing her I felt solace in my heart which was missing for some years. Further, I felt like I am alive, and I want to keep this feeling with me. Moreover, I want Eva around me because she is the only one who knows me the best. She can make me feel humane.
Furthermore, she has my secrets which I don't want to uncover.
Perhaps I am giving weird reasons to myself, still, I want her around me.
So, at any cost, I would have to keep her near me. This time I don't want to lean on medicines as I am sure Eva's presence will boost my energy.
So, let's think about what I have to do? There should be a plan if she decided not to burn in the flame.
To be continued.
