2. People can't change.

Eva's POV
Some people can never change. Earlier I used to think people and their relationships change with time. However, my perspective changed when I became a small part of Ariana and Mr. Connell's journey.
Their love grew with time along with their possessiveness especially Mr. Connell who yet doesn't allow any male to hover around her.
How much I wished Adam would have done something like this to me?
A little possessiveness! And some affinity. I only wanted that. Did I ask something big? No, I didn't then why did I not?
What was the reason for which I craved love?
“Are you even listening to me? What kind of friends did I have? No one criticizes him. I can understand Olivia, she is still his fan, but what is wrong with you? Did you forget you are no longer his employee?” Ariana narrowed her eyes.
“Even Erin didn't pay heed to me. You all are betraying me,” Ariana further said.
Olivia and Erin are her closest friends who need to manage this mad girl whenever she fights with Mr. Connell.
“Go, I am hanging it. You aren't paying attention to me,” she childishly said.
“Nothing like it, but why are you looking pale? Also, your behavior is quite strange,” like another day, her face wasn't glowing furthermore I couldn't see maturity.
“See, even Miss Brown is saying it. Sorry, Miss Brown for speaking between you both, but I need to take her for a walk,” Mr. Connell took Ariana in his embrace and fondled her hair. She gave him a look and wriggled in his arms.
“Don't be mad love,” he pecked her hair.
“We will daily go for a long drive if you wake early and don't miss your morning exercise,” he further said.
“Promise?” She smiled in his embrace and snuggled her face in his chest. He hummed and again pecked her forehead.
Envious!
Why do I still get jealous of her and Mr. Connell's relationship? Perhaps, in the past, I have also dreamt of such a relationship where I could be in Adam's embrace and smile forgetting everything.
Though I forgot everyone can't be lucky who can get their first love, especially a girl like me who is born to suffer.
“Are you there? Why are you so pulled out?” Ariana said.
“Nothing like that. Well, is something going on? You both seem delighted,” I said after analyzing there is something fishy.
“Shall we tell her? She is a good secret keeper,” Ariana grinned. Her eyes gleamed with some teasing and some shyness.
“That I agree. You can tell her well I am going outside, and you finish your conversation quickly,” Mr. Connell left from there while Ariana sat straightly saying, “How are you doing?”
“Later, as first I am interested in your life. What is the reason for this shyness?” I furrowed my brows.
“Nothing! My life has turned somewhat exciting after knowing I am pregnant,” she casually said.
“What? When did you find out? And why is there no news? Are you guys again planning to throw a bomb after your child is born like you announced your marriage after a year?” Perhaps I am more excited than her. I feel like I am expectant.
“Nothing like that. It is just we want to keep our privacy, that's why we didn't tell anyone, not even to my friends, as Aiden doesn't want any risk,” she closed her eyes.
“But then why me?” I confusedly asked.
“Because you won't tell anyone,” she curled her lips in a smile and touched her stomach further saying, “Also, I wish like this child is going to bring new hope in my life, you too get someone who brings hope in your heart.”
“Though I am happy for you, I don't think I can get hope again.”
“You would. Well, Eva, we should talk about me in the evening. I have lots to speak with you about. However, I feel you are anxious. So, tell me what is going on?” She asked.
“Don't act! I know Sarah must have told you about the change in management.”
“No, she didn't,” she said.
“Okay, I trust you. Do you know who is the owner of Curio corporation? I know it is London's top company and its owner is Mr. Cameron but there are rumors that he is just a face who represents that company and the real owner is someone else,” I nervously played with my hair and held my breath.
“Why are you interested? Should I set you on a blind date with him?” She teasingly said.
“Not even in your worst dream,” I shook my head.
“Then? Hold on! Don't tell me that your company management is changing, so you are going to resign and go to Curio,” she gave me a shocking expression that terrified me.
“If yes then reconsider. You would get in difficulties and land yourself in a huge mess,” she further said.
I am sure of one thing: my life going out of track. And I am going to ride a roller coaster.
“No! That company is taking over my company, but why did you say that? Is he rude? However, I heard the possessor is good,” more than assuring her, I convinced myself. I don't have the strength to handle the arrogant boss who might make me work on my ass.
“It is destiny. Well, Miss Brown buckles your belt as you are going to have a lot of fun. I should go as Aiden is yelling,” saying it, she gave me a naughty grin and hung the call.
With all confusion, I stood up and took my bag thinking about her words.
Does she know who owns that company? She surely knows, after all, she is herself a leading businesswoman and her husband is already leading this business world.
But then why didn't she tell me? And what does she mean?
Well, I just hope nothing goes wrong with my life.
Already after so many struggles, I have settled in my life, and it is running smoothly.
Daily, I wake up at 5:00 am and get ready for the office. After that, I don't even realize how my time passes as I need to do so much work. As a result, I get exhausted and go straight to sleep after having dinner with Sarah.
Though the night always appears long, I couldn't get to sleep. I can only toss on the bed and think about the next day's schedule.
Also, weekends seem boring to me, yet I say my life is smooth. Such a pathetic life I have, but it's okay at least I don't have to face him and go through agonizing discomfort.
Although occasionally, I see a forbidden dream where I am happy with him. He is caring for me and pampers me.
I should stop thinking this much and focus on my career.
