"EVERLY ANNE FROST-FYRE" my mother yelled throwing a paper at me."you are not in any condition to lead the Hallows."
i keep sewing my dress front to allow for my expanding stomach continuing to ignore her.
"Everly dear ... your mother and i could lead the ritual this one last time while you are with child" Alex's mother spoke up.
Ales sighed this time. "Mother ... Everly and I are perfectly capable of running this Circle at rituals ... and every other day .. we may be new at this but for the last 6 months we have done a fine job."
"With a killer on the loose in the circle ... that never happened when I was in charge ... and you know that a baby is an open vessel do you want to invite a spirit into her?"my mother argued thinking she had the upper hand.
i slammed my hands down on my desk. .. i was spending a lot of time in ny office now a days ... its hard to trust anyone here and my doctor said i was high risk because my blood pressure was through the roof ... only alex and i knew this though." GET ... OUT ... Alex and i will perform the ritual and that is that."
my mother turned on her heal slamming the door and my eyes cut to Alex and his mother who were getting in a fresh argument. "Alex dear .. please go get Storm and Marco ... i have a couple things i need to talk to them about ... Ember will be here shortly so i wont be alone long so no worries." i gave him a smile that showed how stressed i was and that i was stress cramping again. He nodded back and ushered his mother oit as i sighed a breath of relief and put my dress down so i could lock the door ... Ember had a key its fine.
i sat there in thought. so we know the killer was in the Circle... and we know they are not a witch ... or a shifter .. the theory is they are a dragon ... gran gran says something significant will happen soon .. but what?

my head snaps up and i sigh "Ember come in ... you have a key."

my brows furrow as i look toward the door. "Ember this isnt funny ... come in already."

I startled out of my seat and under my desk " what the f**k is that?" my heart was beating a million miles a minute and i was ... in fact ... alone... in my office ... weakened... f**k.
I heard the door bust in and slam the wall behind it shattering the picture frames holding my degree. I clammed up and held my breath.
a slythery voice called out almost singing. "Everly, Everly where are you princess, ... someone i know wants to play." stuff was being flung off the shelves, books hitting the wall behind my desk .. think small think small think small. suddenly a glass broke and i began seeing stars. "I'll find you as you sleep ... ill figure out what you are hiding from me." then everything was black.

As i walked closer to the Circle office to meet with Everly something was off ... there were no guards. "what the f**k ... i know i stationed guys here ... UGH what is that smell?." my nose wrinkled and i tried to plug it ... my father would have flipped .. i am only a quarter shifter so my nose isnt as good as my dad who was half ... but this ... this would have hurt a normal witches nose. I barrelled through the door and saw my men in a pile in the entry way. "well ... found um." i sighed and shook my head taking my t shirt off to wrap around my nose. i stalked toward the office door that Everly was supposed to be in and it was hanging from a hinge ... the smell eminating from the inside of the room making my head spin. i doubled the short to filter the smell and went in to look... it was a mess and she was definitely gone. "well s**t ... where is Alex ... he was supposed to be here till I got here?" i opened a window to air the room out and called the investigative teams beeper from Everly's desk phone. they quickly called back.
"Ma'am how can we assist"
"Nira its me Ember ... Lady Frost-Fyre has been taken ... i need you all to come see if there are any clues."
the other line was quiet for a second "Em .... what do you mean she was taken? is there any of the green goop?"
i glanced around "not that i can tell on the surface... but thats why i need you."
"Ember ... please dont say it like that ... it kills me ... "
i could hear she was flustered "Nira ... I ..."
"I understand ... but next time please say you need my team ... not me ... it ... gives false hope .... we will be there in a few minutes" and she hung up ...
I let out a deep sigh "but what if I do NEED you Nira .... I am such an i***t for being worried enough to reject you... " and i finally hung up the phone that was screaming in my ear.
