chapter 26

Delilah I peered one of my eyes open to access my environment before opening the second one. I saw Lucas seated uncomfortably on the seat, he rested his head on the bed, sleeping soundly. I ran my fingers through his hair and he stirred slightly then mumbled something incoherent. Not wanting to wake him, I retrieved my fingers and closed my eyes, succumbing to the clutches of unconsciousness. I opened my eyes the second time and I noticed that the room have darkened and Lucas isn't sleeping this time around. He was at the corner of the room, whispering responses to whoever that was on the other side of the line, privy to my conscious state. I strained my ears to make out what he was saying and just with few words like pregnant, girl, miss you, I was able to tell who he was speaking to.
