HIGH SCHOOL DRAMA

910 Words
As soon as the final bell rang, signaling the end of the school day, Emma rushed out of her last class and headed straight to her locker. She couldn't wait to get home and finish the latest novel she had been engrossed in for the past week. However, as she turned the corner, she was stopped in her tracks by her best friend, Lily."Hey, Emma, wait up!" Lily called out as she jogged to catch up with her.Emma groaned inwardly. She loved hanging out with Lily, but she also knew that it would mean a detour from her reading plans. "What's up?" she asked, turning to face Lily."I was wondering if you wanted to come to a party with me this weekend," Lily said, her eyes shining with excitement.Emma hesitated. She wasn't a big fan of parties, but she also didn't want to disappoint her friend. "Who's throwing the party?" she asked, trying to buy herself some time to make a decision."Jason Evans. You know, the cute guy from our math class," Lily replied, wiggling her eyebrows.Emma couldn't help but roll her eyes. Lily had been crushing on Jason since the beginning of the school year, and she was always trying to find a way to get closer to him. "I don't know, Lily. I'm not really in the mood for a party," she finally replied."Oh, come on, Em. It'll be fun, I promise!" Lily pleaded, giving Emma her best puppy dog eyes.Emma sighed. She knew she wouldn't be able to say no to Lily's puppy dog eyes forever. "Fine, I'll think about it," she relented, knowing that she would likely end up going to the party whether she wanted to or not.Over the next few days, Lily constantly reminded Emma about the party, trying to convince her to come. Emma found herself feeling more and more anxious about it. She wasn't a partier, and she was afraid she wouldn't fit in or have a good time. But she didn't want to let Lily down. Finally, Saturday night rolled around, and Emma found herself standing outside Jason's house, surrounded by loud music and a group of teenagers she didn't know. Lily had disappeared as soon as they arrived, leaving Emma to fend for herself.Feeling overwhelmed, Emma made her way to the kitchen and poured herself a cup of punch. She took a sip, hoping it would calm her nerves. But just as she was about to take another sip, a voice interrupted her thoughts."Hey, I'm Jason. I don't think we've officially met yet," the cute guy from her math class said, smiling at her.Emma's heart raced as she nervously stumbled over her words. "H-hey, I'm Emma. Yeah, I don't think we've had the pleasure," she replied, trying to appear calm and collected."Well, now we have," Jason said, handing her a red cup filled with what she assumed was beer.Emma hesitated, not wanting to drink anything. But she didn't want to seem like a prude in front of Jason, so she took a small sip. It tasted bitter and made her throat burn, but she forced a smile and took another sip.As the night went on, Emma found herself enjoying Jason's company. He was funny and easy to talk to, and he seemed genuinely interested in getting to know her. She even let herself relax and have a few more sips of the drink he had given her. Before she knew it, the party was in full swing, and Emma was dancing and laughing with her new friends. She couldn't believe how much fun she was having. And when Jason asked her to dance with him, she couldn't resist. As they swayed to the music, Emma felt like she was in a movie. She had never been to a party like this before, and she was thoroughly enjoying herself. But as the night wore on, the loud music and the alcohol began to take its toll on her.Feeling dizzy and lightheaded, Emma excused herself and made her way to the bathroom. She splashed some cold water on her face, hoping it would help sober her up. But as she looked in the mirror, she didn't recognize the girl looking back at her. Her hair was a mess, her makeup was smudged, and she looked like she had just run a marathon.Feeling overwhelmed, Emma made her way back to the kitchen, hoping to find Lily and leave the party. But as she opened the door, she stumbled and fell, spilling her drink all over herself."Are you okay?" Jason asked, rushing to her side."I-I think I need to go home," Emma slurred, feeling embarrassed and ashamed.Jason helped her to her feet and called a friend to give them a ride home. As they waited for the ride, Emma could feel the effects of the alcohol taking over her body. She felt sick and disoriented, and she regretted ever coming to the party. When they arrived at her house, Emma stumbled out of the car and practically ran to her front door. She was relieved to see that her parents were still out for the night, and she could sneak in without having to explain her drunken state. But as she stumbled to her room and collapsed onto her bed, she couldn't help but feel disappointed in herself. She had never been the type to drink or party, and yet here she was, completely out of control. The next morning, Emma woke up with a pounding headache To be continued
