Chapter 4

A cool sweet burn trailed across her stomach leaving a trail on her body where it met her body. She was cool yet she was hot. She was burning from the inside out as the now all too satin sheets melted her sensitive skin. Her n*****s scratched the inside of her t-shirt and her pajama bottoms felt too tight as she heard a whisper. "Wake up." She felt like she was being caressed with a familiar touch but none had existed. "Wake up." She heard the whisper again and this time it was louder as if it was right in her ear and Sirahi jumped almost upright in her bed. Her sheets fell to her waist and she felt the undeniable heat in her home, yet she was cold. She blinked around the dark room and checked her phone to see if she received any messages from her security. None. She looked around as her senses were on hyper alert when she left the comfort of her room to grab a drink of water. Grabbing a glass, she had opened her fridge to get the jug she had in the cool box and poured herself a glass half full, bringing the cup up to her lips as she drank. Turning, Sirahi had almost dropped her glass as she realized she forgot to close her curtains but that was not what had spooked her. On the other side of the glass walls was a lone figure watching her. Any normal person would have screamed and any normal person would have ran for the phone to call the authorities. But she wasn't normal. There was something about the figure that called to her and she took a step around her kitchen counter, walking closely to the glass. It was almost as if she was under a spell when she found herself reaching for the lock. No. Her brain told her but something else said. Open it. The tall dark figure didn't move but she swore she could hear his breathing, feel his heart beating. Both their breaths were ragged and though she couldn't see his face as the overhead flood lights casted a shadow on him, she had the overwhelming feeling that she knew him. She could feel his eyes watching her intently as she pulled her hand away from the lock. "Open it." She heard his voice command and though it was slightly suppressed from the barrier of her home, it still sent shivers down her spine. Deep, dark, and mysterious it was as she felt her hand itching to unlock the door. "No." Sirahi said and the man took one step forward. "Open this door." He told her again and she took one step back shaking her head. "This is one messed up dream." She told herself but she knew it wasn't a dream. "Why not?" The man asked and Sirahi almost laughed from the odd situation that she was in. "You're standing outside my home like a creep, in the middle of the night, which I don't even know how you got passed security. And you're a stranger asking me to unlock my door. If that doesn't spell creepy, I don't know what does." She told him not even sure how they were having a conversation. But she knew that he wasn't human, and neither was she. They were most likely using their senses to catch the sounds as they spoke. But on the inside, her body was becoming hot and she couldn't put her finger on it as it burned something wild inside of her. Deep down, she wanted to open the door and take the offer the man was giving her without speaking. The promise of wild. Free. "I don't know you." She said and there was a humorless chuckle from the other side. "I think you do." He said and she caught a flash of eyes as if cold icy blue eyes could glow. Sirahi took another step back as she closed the curtain and turned on her heels and rushed back to her the safety of her room. She swore she could hear the strange man as he chuckled and she knew that she wasn't going to get any sleep for the rest of the night. *** Jamis wanted to break the glass but he knew if he forced his way in, she would never forgive him. He wasn't that desperate to scare his mate and he knew he had to tread lightly. He almost couldn't believe he had found his mate but he really couldn't believe that the fates would f**k him over and throw a different species at him. She wasn't even a shifter, let alone anything he could fathom. But when he heard her voice earlier today singing in a crowd, he was drawn to the sound as his eyes caught onto her. She was like a ray of sunshine in his dark days and even though he couldn't figure out what she was, everything for him clicked. Like a puzzle piece fitting right where it needed to go. He knew she felt it too because he saw it on her face when their eyes had met. That was why he followed her scent and it traced him back to her home, a very defenseless place with literal windows to see into her life. He didn't know her but he didn't have to try hard to. She was apparently famous in the human world and he could curse what god thought it would be funny to mess with him. Still, Jamis wanted her right then and there. Though he should be mortified, his d**k was hurting against his jeans and he wanted to break down her glass door, march into her room and tear off the scrap of fabrics that was meant to be her pajamas. But she wasn't a she wolf, and she probably would break at the first sign of him, that was how fragile she looked. That was why he, turned around and left the same way he entered with no prying eyes in sight and pathetic excuse she called security guards who were sleeping at their station. He went back to the dingy hotel he was staying at and wondered how exactly he was supposed to court his non shifter mate and prayed for the best. His life just got a hundred times harder and his d**k did the exact same too.
