🪄 CHAPTER 3: THE MAGICAL PIE

597 Words
When the light faded, Princess Poppy found herself floating — weightless — inside a swirl of glitter and sparkles. Her cat Bobby spun beside her, eyes wide and tail puffed like a duster. Then, gently, her feet touched the floor again. But everything had changed. The Pie Chamber was no longer golden and tidy. It was glowing with dancing lights and floating spoons. The walls shimmered like waves, and the air hummed with soft music. Liri fluttered beside her, horrified. “Oh, butter and breadcrumbs! You touched it, didn’t you? The pie’s awake now!” Poppy looked at the pie — it was still on the table, but now it sparkled brighter than before, its crust glowing with shades of blue and gold. From deep inside it came a soft, whispery voice: > “You touched the pie of wishes, Princess Poppy. Speak your heart’s desire, and it shall be yours.” Poppy gasped. “It’s really talking!” Bobby meowed, hiding behind her leg. Liri fluttered nervously. “Don’t do it! Wishes made in haste often taste like trouble later!” But Poppy couldn’t help herself. Her heart raced with excitement. She thought about the rules, the lessons, the endless “no’s” that filled her days. And then, without thinking, she whispered: > “I wish there were no more palace rules!” The pie glowed brighter — whoosh! — and a wind rushed through the room. The silver door slammed shut behind her. When the light dimmed, the castle of Luminara was… silent. No guards. No servants. No royal bells. Poppy blinked. “Did it… work?” Liri groaned. “Oh, it worked, all right. But wishes,” she said gravely, “always come true in the most unexpected ways.” At first, everything seemed wonderful. Poppy ran through the hallways with Bobby close behind, laughing as she spun in her blue ribbons. No one stopped her. No one reminded her to be careful or told her what not to do. “Liri! Look!” she called out. “No guards! No rules! I can eat dessert for breakfast, jump on the royal sofa, and even wear mismatched shoes!” The tiny fairy fluttered after her, trying to keep up. “Princess Poppy, slow down! Magic like this never ends neatly!” But Poppy didn’t listen. She twirled through the ballroom, her laughter echoing against the crystal ceiling. It was freedom — sweet, sparkling freedom! Then, she heard something odd. A faint creak. A crackle. The chandeliers above began to flicker. The castle walls shimmered, their colors shifting strangely. “Liri?” Poppy whispered. “Why is everything glowing?” The fairy’s face fell. “Oh, crumbs and candlelight… the magic’s spreading!” From the kitchens came a clatter — plates dancing on their own. Curtains began to swirl like ribbons in the air. Even Bobby’s fur glowed faintly blue. The magic pie pulsed on its marble table, its crust slowly breaking apart, releasing sparkles that flew through the castle like tiny shooting stars. “Your wish removed the palace rules,” Liri said softly, “but it also broke the magic that kept order. The castle isn’t obeying its own enchantments anymore!” Poppy’s smile faded. “You mean… everything’s going to go wild?” Liri nodded, wings drooping. “Unless you find a way to undo it — and fast.” Poppy looked at the glowing halls, her heart thudding. For the first time, she wished she had listened. > “Oh no,” she whispered. “What have I done?”
