“Remember, keep the hood up and make sure the robe stays closed.” Karryl’s voice was firm as he fussed about her, pulling the silver-gray robe this way and that until he was satisfied no part of her could be seen. He was the most worried she’d ever seen him, the raw and primal lover giving way to the professional soldier…warrior, whatever he wanted to call himself. “Honestly, I can handle this.” She took a step back and rolled her shoulders, easing the stiffness across the base of her neck.
