Chapter Two: The concert

Rosie’s POV From the time we woke up, the world seemed to be moving too slowly for my liking, breakfast was boring. Anna kept looking at her screen hoping that time would move on faster. She has this crazy obsession with Aaron and he's not even going to be at the concert. By the time it was 6pm, we started getting ready for the event. Makeup bags and different heels were scattered all over my room. Anna became uneasy and kept looking at her phone saying we would be late. “Rosie! Pass the eyeliner to me”. She shoved her hands my way impatiently. “Relax Anna, here” I placed it on her open palms. “Someone would think you’re attending a concert that will change your life for good”. “Who knows girl, maybe” she opened her arms dramatically and jumped excitedly. A notification popped up on her screen and she brought her phone closer to her face to have a proper view. The look she gave her phone almost made my heart stop, she stared at her phone for seconds. Then boom she screamed “Aaron f*****g Jackson, is going to be performing live on stage at the MSG” she read out loud almost screaming to my ear. “What?” I asked in total disbelief “I thought he went to London for another concert “ “Turns out he’s back and wants to surprise his fans, us, Rosie, us”, she took my hands forcing me to jump with her out of excitement. “Girl I can’t wait to hear his voice, I can’t wait to hear his raw voice sing to the microphone”, I squealed happily “Especially the R&B, I feel like he’s singing directly to my soul” “Isn't it crazy how one sings both R&B and Afrobeats so good, he is the first person to make me fall in love with Afrobeats “ Anna muttered as we looked at the mirror for our final makeup and fit check. Anna looked so gorgeous and sexy and so did I. I loved how simple and flawless my makeup looked, the way my edges were layered to perfection fit my face. The dress hung onto my body like a second skin exposing my perky boobs. We arrived at the venue in less than an hour. Music blasted loudly from the speakers. I could swear my ribcage vibrated. The night sky glowed with colors as beams of light shot across the arena. The place looked breathtaking. I clutched Anna’s arm tightly, but my heart was rapidly racing. “I can't believe we are actually here bestie!” I shouted over the noise. “Believe it, babe, believe it! This is finally happening, we are seeing Aaron Jackson Live” she screamed back happily. My stomach twisted with excitement and nerves. I had been to concerts before, but this feels nothing like the concerts I have attended before. The energy was contagious, and wild. Fans waved banners and screamed Aaron’s name. Then the lights went black. A collective gasp rippled through the arena, followed by deafening screams. The giant screen flickered to life, flashing Aaron’s name in bold, fiery letters. My heart stuttered. The beat dropped. A spotlight burst to life at the center of the stage, and there he was. Aaron. Jackson! He was Tall, commanding, sexy, and handsome like a Greek god dressed in all black. My knees wobbled. I clutched Anna harder. “He’s even more…” “Don’t say it,” Anna cut in, though her wide eyes betrayed the same awe. “I know.” The concert continued. Aaron owned the stage, he was dancing, singing, and connecting with the crowd as if every single person mattered. Halfway through, the music slowed. Aaron paused, standing at the edge of the stage, breathing heavily, his chest rising and falling with the effort of performance. He wiped sweat from his brow, smiling as the crowd roared his name. “You know,” he said into the mic, his voice warm, teasing, “I see a lot of beautiful faces out there tonight.” The crowd erupted, and fans screamed. I laughed nervously, brushing a single strand of hair that fell to my face. “But there’s one face…” Aaron protected his eyes from the lights, scanning the crowd. “One face that keeps pulling my attention.” I froze. Anna squeezed her arm. “Oh my God. Oh my God, Rosie, he’s looking this way.” “No, no, no…” my heart hammered. But then Aaron’s gaze landed directly on me. Aaron smiled slowly. “You. With the curls and the red dress, join me for this last song” My breath caught. That was me. I couldn't believe it, how can I believe that Aaron wants me to stage with him? The spotlight shifted, landing on me. Gasps and murmurs rose from the crowd as if I had confessed to being Beyoncé’s secret sister. “Come up here,” Aaron said, holding out his hand. “Sing with me.” I shook my head violently, mouthing, No, I can’t. Anna shoved me. “Go! Are you crazy?!” Security began moving the crowd, motioning for me to come forward. The audience cheered louder. Climbing the steps to the stage, the lights blinded me, and the roar of the crowd deafened me. And then Aaron’s hand wrapped around mine, strong and steady, keeping me in place. Up close, he was even more breathtaking. His smile was genuine, his eyes locked on mine as though I were the only person in the world. “What’s your name sweetheart?” he asked softly, though the mic carried his words across the stadium. “R-Rosie,” I stammered. The crowd screamed my name. Rosie! Rosie! Rosie! Aaron’s grin widened. “Rosie. Beautiful name. Can you sing Rosie?” My mouth fell open” No! Absolutely not!” The crowd laughed and I don't know why the hell they did that. He leaned closer to me, teasing, “At least dance with me then. Just a little. For this last song.” My blood drained to my toes. “In front of—of all these people?” Aaron smiled at me, his white teeth flashing. “Don’t look at them. Look at me.” The band started up again, the beat heavy and intoxicating. Aaron handed me the mic for a few lines. My hands shook, but somehow, words spilled out. My voice was small, nervous, but the crowd went wild anyway. Aaron cheered me on, dancing beside me, his energy making me more confident. By the end of the song, I was laughing breathlessly, high on adrenaline. Aaron lifted my hand into the air, as if declaring me the queen of the night. The crowd roared. For one surreal moment, I felt unbeatable and seen. When the song ended, Aaron leaned close, his voice low enough that only I could hear. “You were amazing, and trust me you're the most beautiful woman I've seen in a real while” Rosie,” he leaned in closer again, his lips brushing my ear this time” don’t disappear after this.” My heart dropped to my stomach. What did that even mean? My heart nearly stopped. I couldn't believe what I just heard. “Everyone let's make some noise for Rosie” he shouted into the mic and encouraged his fans to sing with him. “Everybody say Ro-Ro-Ro, Ro-Ro-Ro” At first, I was like What the hell is this guy doing, but to my utmost surprise, the people sang with him. Then, with one last killer smile, he guided me back down the stairs into the crowd. Anna caught me instantly, screaming into my ear. “You were on stage with Aaron freaking Jackson!” Anna exclaimed. I could barely breathe, my entire body was on fire as a result of the shock I had gone through. I looked back once, and Aaron was still watching me as he exited the stage.
