Chapter 20
As soon as they left the mansion, Amir's mood had changed to the ruthless man he was known to be. Twenty minutes later, he arrived at his secret base where his very own army was posted. The secret base and his mansion were actually in the same courtyard but far away enough that it could not be seen with prying eyes. It was an underground base and access to it was prohibited unless he or she was authorized.
The base had another gate that gave straight the desert road and another one that was located south of it. The secret tunnel gave access to many other tunnels within the country. Like that he had complete control over what was going on. Ever since his father had broken ties with the current regime and paid the price with his life, he had only one thing in mind grow his army. But for that, he had to go through the ladder of the actual country military. To which he succeeded in becoming the number one with his mother grooming him. Once he made it to the top, he brought to justice the corrupt system and those that destroy his father lived at the request of his uncle.
Discovering that the president had nothing to do with his father's assassination, he had spared his life. After that incident, all heads were replaced; he took his early retirement and was allowed to create his very own army or mercenary group with of course condition attached. But sadly, he was not strong enough to protect his very own mother who died in a vehicle explosion right outside of their gate. He had never felt more powerless than he did at that time and to think that it was his current fiancé who had betrayed him, by placing that bomb in his mother's vehicle.
Nonetheless, to say, her whole family paid dearly but his trust in women had diminished to a very low percentage. He always suspected that his late fiancé had someone bigger pulling the string, but that person was slick. One thing about him, patience was his middle name, he knew they would slip, and just as predicted, they did by sending those amateurs to kill him.
Has he entered into the tunnel; Ben was already at the main door waiting for him "how are they?"
"Acting tough"
"Are they ready for interrogation?"
"Yes"
"Bring both in"
The interrogation room was made of metal with one side covered in hard thin glass. The glass allowed people from the other side of the room to see but people inside could not see who was watching them
Both men with their hands attached were brought in the room by two guards. Amir had tucked his long white sleeve shirt and had crossed his legs. His fingers slowly hitting the table near a yellow folder. With a nod of his head, he signals for the guard to place the two men on the waiting chairs.
"What are your names?"
Neither man answered
"In this folder here, we have your identity, but I would rather you honestly tell me who you are?"
The man sitting on the right side of the floor responded "My name is Shakir and he is Amab"
"Shakir and Amab, do you have a family Shakir?"
"No sir, they are all gone"
"What happened to them?"
"They died during the deadly gas that the government had thrown into our village?"
"I see what about you Amab?"
With hatred written on his face, Amab responded "what do you care, you nothing more than a scumbag whose pleasures is to rips people's effort while you live in a leisure life, so spare the compassionate act and kill us already, after all, it is what you are known for"
Unaffected by Amab words, Amir opened the folder and went straight to Amab profile "You have a son and a daughter, whose whereabouts are unknown but not for long, you are from the province of Tartus. You pretty far away from home I would say." He stole a glance at Amab whose face had whitened. "Your wife died two years ago when she blew herself up in front of the parliament during a rally-killing around 20 people. According to the report here, she was a rebel"
"My wife was not a rebel; she was manipulated by the government, the very same government who is killing people left and right with no mercy. She was no rebel and I will kill every one of those who have falsely accused her of such"
Amab had worked up a nerve and his face had turned all red as he spoke out those words. Deciding not to continue, Amir changes the subject. One day, Amab would have to learn the truth about his wife. "So, for which branch are you working for?"
Both men didn't utter a word; their hands were fidgeting; it was clear to see that they weren't going to talk. By viewing their files, he understood that those men were victims. Not only were their amateur, but they were fueled with the desires of revenge and for that, anyone could use them. Hitting the intercom, he signals for the guards to come in, once they did "Make sure they are back in their cell and do provide them with food and water. Shakir and Amab I suggest you get yourself at ease here for your journey with us will be quite long and maybe hurtful."
With that last words said, Amir left the room; back in his office with his first and second and third in the room "It won't be long till we discover the true culprit who has been trying to eliminate me for the past five years."
"What do we do with the guys we've captured?" asked Ben
"We'll keep them in for three weeks, we won't torture them but we'll exert enough pressure for them to c***k, eventually one will talk, then we will release them, they will be the one to lead us to our target"
No more words were needed as the three of them were lost in their thoughts.
