Chapter 18

1074 Words
Chapter 18 It had taken more time than expected for Amir to arrive at their meeting point. Two of the attackers had died during the assaults. One was wounded and the other one was well enough. They had managed to bring them and Ben was currently loading them in the back of his vehicles. They were to be brought to their secret base where they will be questions. During it all, he kept thinking of Sarah, was she alright, and was she scared. He knew she will be safe with his drivers; hopefully, this nice welcome won't change her mind about remaining here. So, once he reached the location, he knocked on the back passenger's door, signaling to Abduh that it was him. Knowing how quick Abduh was with his weapons it was always best to inform him then give the element of surprise. Little did he know Abduh had been a little distracted? The back door opened, he found Sarah seating one-sided facing him as he entered. With the little light in the car, he could see the worries lines on her face. She observed him for quite a while. He could see her eyes roaming from his head to his feet. Once she was done with her observation, she breathed out a sigh of relief and sat facing the front of the vehicle. If his intuition was right, she had been worried about him, warming up his heart at such realization. "Abduh, don't use the tunnel, let's use the free road and keep an eye out, we may face more attack," says Amir in his mother tongue. "What did you just tell him" ask Sarah "That we are heading home and to be sure to keep an eye out on the road" "I see, so what happened to those guys that just attack us" "They were taken care of" "When you say taken care of, you mean they were killed" "It means what it means they were taken care of" Of course, he wouldn't tell her thought Sarah. But the little blood on the sleeve on his shirt tells her that blood had been shed tonight "By the way, you have a bit of blood on the sleeve of your shirt" Surprise by her comments, Amir looks on his right sleeve to see indeed there was blood. That blood must have gotten there when he tried to stop the bleeding of one of the attackers. He looks up to Sarah who was watching with eyes that say, you may not want to tell me but I am smart enough to figure it out. "I tried to stop the bleeding of one of the attackers, he didn't survive" "How many did survive" "Only two" "How many were they then" Amir seriously wanted to tell her to mind her business but he couldn't find it in him to treat her so. "They were eight in total" "I see; this was a planned attack wasn't it" Abduh was surprised not only at how Sarah was asking the questions but at how easily Amir was answering them. He was witnessing history in the making. "You know for a little girl you sure ask a lot of questions" "You have a problem with that Mr. Amir Saab" The way she said his name should have been enough to shut him up but instead it fuels his energy with something he couldn't quite explain. "Yes" "Then I won't ask anymore, may as well put me back in the plane and send me home. For your information, I am the not type that's going to stay quiet without asking what's going. My safety also depends on me. So, if you are not willing to share then my place is not here" Ohhh, where did this woman come from, wait he came with her. Amir what were you thinking. He couldn't properly think with all her questions and he needed to think. He didn't want to be rude but she was pushing his button a tiny bit. Weren't women supposed to be quiet in whatsoever situation? But Sarah was no ordinary woman. Taken a deep breath "How about once we get home, I will properly answer your question, now is not the time for we are still not out of the danger" "Ok," says Sarah Abduh quickly looked in the review mirror to see the shocked look on Amir's face as he looks at Sarah. Sensing eyes upon her, she looks toward Amir to see him observing her "Is there something wrong" she asked "No, not at all," says Amir as he turns his head toward the road. Sarah wonders if Amir had hit his head, for she certainly could not understand him at the moment, he was usually calm and collected. But now he looks a little bit agitated. She could understand the stress he was going through so his response to her question was quite acceptable. The rest of the ride was quiet, approximately two hours later; they find themselves in front of a very big gate made of iron. Sleep had overtaken Sarah during the ride but as soon as the car stopped, she awakened. She leans forward to watch with amazement the tall iron gate surrounded by 20 feet up the wall. She heard Abduh speaking in his earpieces and a minute later, a sound sounded and the tall Iron Gate started opening. The first thing she could see were lights lighting up the path and trees on both sides of the path. As the car entered, she looks behind to realize they were the only car to enter "What happened to the other cars" ask she "They had to do an errand" was all Amir answered. As the car continued, Sarah was in awe, this was a long drive through. After approximately ten minutes, they arrived in front of a beautiful huge mansion. The outside of the house in itself was luxurious, the entrance was made of marbles and on both sides of the stairs were statues on lions. The door of the vehicle was opened by a man dress in black in white. As she gets out of the car and looks at the huge mansion in front of her, her mind became blank. She heard the man behind her speaks to Amir, she turns toward him and the questions that came to her mind was 'who in the world are you, Amir Saab.'
