Elaris's POV It's friday. I had stopped counting the hours. Somewhere between Tuesday afternoon and this morning, time had become meaningless. The curtains in my apartment had remained closed for most of the week, leaving the rooms trapped in a dull gray light. I only opened them long enough to let a little air in before closing them again. People had knocked on my door. Mrs. Lane from downstairs had brought homemade soup on Wednesday. Mr. Hale had offered to help with groceries when he noticed I hadn't left the apartment.
