A Chance

I spent the day cooking and cleaning the house, around 2pm the door opened and my brother walked in.

Kesh walked over and hugged me.

“Congrats sis”

“I missed you so much you little s**t. You should come home more often. How’s Uni?” we sat down talking about his Uni work for a bit and my sister came in.

I stood up and walked over to her she smiled at me and I smiled back.

“Come here i***t” she opened her arms and I hugged her tight. “I missed you so much”

“I missed you too Lila. I have so much to tell you” I smiled.

“Congrats” Harinder my brother in law hugged me. Lila and he made such a cute couple.

I sat down with Lila and went over some of the details of the wedding.

I glanced at the clock it was almost 7pm, I quickly walked upstairs and got changed I fixed my hair but left my makeup.

I walked downstairs and Lila rolled her eyes.

“You could have put some make up on” I ignored her comment I was used to it. The doorbell rang and Kesh answered it. He looked Rishi up and down and I laughed.

Here we go.

“Hey” Rishi spoke he put his hand out and Kesh shook it. Even though he was younger than me, he still acted older. Kesh was about 6ft so Rishi stood a good couple inches taller.

“Stop it let him in” mom spoke.

Rishi laughed and walked in.

“Rishi this is my sister Lila and her husband Harinder and my annoying little brother Kesh” Rishi handed some flowers to my sister and shook Harinder’s hand. Everyone walked inside and he turned to me.

His hand slipped around my waist and he planted a kiss on my forehead “You look stunning as usual” I smiled.

“She could have put some make up on or dressed up a little more” my sister spoke. Rishi scowled at her comment.

“She looks perfect without it” he spoke, my heart soared and I blushed a little. We walked inside and sat down.

“How was work you looked stressed this morning?” I handed him a drink and he smiled and thanked me.

“Yeah everything is good just some issues with evidence, its fine don’t worry” he slipped his hand into mine and started talking to dad, Kesh and Harinder. I excused myself and went into the kitchen.

I began making the last of the food and my sister poured everything into serving dishes and set the table. Once I finished, I walked into the dining room and everyone had taken their seats. I slipped into the chair next to Rishi and I started pouring everyone’s food.

I sat down and Rishi smiled at me, we started eating and everyone was making conversation. Kesh was questioning Rishi and I laughed.

“So do you like my sister?”

“Of course I do” Rishi spoke Kesh stared him down and I bit my lip trying not to laugh.

“Ok Kesh stop now you’re worse than dad” Lila spoke. Kesh rolled his eyes and I smiled.

After dinner mom and dad were sat inside, and we all decided to clean together. I handed Rishi the bowls to put in the fridge.

“I was wondering if anyone wants to go and watch Endgame” Rishi spoke, both Kesh and Harinder perked up.

“Hell yes. I like you more already” Kesh spoke.

“I’ve been trying to get her to go” Harinder looked at Lila. She rolled her eyes.

“I will only go if Rosie goes too”

“Sorted then looks like we’re going. I mean unless anyone has anything else to do” Rishi spoke.

“Yes I’ll check what time showings are” Kesh pulled out his phone and I laughed he was like a puppy.

“There is a showing that starts at 11pm” Kesh spoke.

“Perfect” I smiled it was only 9pm.

“Great you boys can have a drink with me before you go” Dad spoke.

“I’ll drive I’m not drinking” Lila spoke, Lila is never one to turn down a drink. I glanced at her and he hand rested on her stomach for a second. I shook my head and bit my lip. That’s why she’s being nice.

Dad, Rishi, Harinder and Dad all sat around the table and each had a drink in their hand. I sat with mom and Lila and kept smiling at her.

“So when are you due?” I whispered to her, her eyes widened and I laughed.

“I knew it” mom spoke

“How did you know?” Lila spoke.

“You never and I mean never turn down a drink” I laughed.

“I’m nearly three months but keep it hush hush please. Only Harinder and I know. I was going to tell you next week after my scan” I hugged her and so did mom.

“I’m so happy for you” I glanced over at Harinder and he smiled at us. I looked over at Rishi and he was smiling at me.

We spent the next hour or so chatting and talking about things for the wedding.

We all jumped in the car and Kesh was adamant to sit in between Rishi and I in the back. I leaned over Kesh and gave Rishi a kiss on the cheek. Kesh gagged and I rolled my eyes.

“Serves you right for putting yourself in the middle” Rishi laughed. We got to the cinema and Rishi payed for the tickets and Harinder paid for the popcorn, snacks and drinks.

I got a chocolate milkshake and nachos to share with Rishi. We walked into the room and found our seats, Harinder sat with Lila on his right, Kesh sat in the middle and Rishi sat on my right. His shoulder was in the perfect position to put my head on.

The movie started and I sipped my milkshake and ate the nachos, Lila had her head on Harinder’s shoulder, I smiled over at them and Kesh was stuffing his face with popcorn.

“You ok” Rishi whispered in my ear, his breath sending tingles down my spine. I nodded and he pecked my head. I rested my head on his arm and watched the rest of the movie.
