The next day passed by with work, I was busy with making birthday cakes there was so many birthdays in May. I needed to find out when Rishi’s birthday was. I finished up the last cake of the day and closed up shop, I jumped in my car and drove to Rishi’s house. I pulled up to his house and his car was in the drive. I parked next to it and walked up to the door, I knocked and there was no answer.  I knocked again, no answer. The lights were on, I quickly text him. Rosie – Hey I’m outside are you home “s**t” Rishi’s voice was behind me he had his earphones in and he pulled them out when he saw me. “Hey, I’m so sorry I went for a run. I lost track of time” he opened the door and we walked inside. There were papers everywhere, and boxes galore. “I can come back another time if you’re busy” I spoke “No, no I want you here. I’m just a bit stressed with this case. I wish I could tell you but I can’t confidentiality and all that” he kissed my lips and quickly picked up all the papers. “So what do you want to do, I can cook or we could get a takeout” he opened his fridge and scoweled. “Take out it is. I’m so sorry I’ve been swamped” “It’s ok and yeah take out sounds good” I sat on the sofa, “Chinese or Pizza?” he spoke “Chinese” “A woman after my heart” he laughed we ordered some food, I changed into my jammies and he changed into some shorts and a vest. “Fancy a drink?” he asked “Sure what you got?” he walked over to his little make shift bar and smiled. “Question is what haven’t I got?” I rolled my eyes and looked over the bottles. “Ooo Malibu will do” He poured me some Malibu and lemonade and I smiled taking a sip. He poured himself a whiskey and we sat back down on the sofa. “How was your day” he spoke softly. “It was good just a lot to do, there’s so many birthdays in May. Speaking of which when is you’re birthday?” I asked looking at him. “Next week, 21st May. What about you?” he brushed my hair “13th July. So what are you doing for your birthday?” I asked “I was thinking maybe do a BBQ on Saturday which is perfect because my birthday falls on a Saturday too, if the weather stays nice with all of the family mine and yours. Might be a good opportunity for our family’s to meet” “Yeah that sounds perfect. I’ll let my family know and I’ll help you with all of the food and stuff it can get a bit much” “Yeah invite all your immediate family. Jeet Bal all you’re aunts uncles and cousins” he spoke “How do you know my uncles?” “I met them at the Pub one time, they were all there” I nodded slowly that makes sense. The doorbell rang and Rishi payed for our food. We sat at the table eating our food and discussing things for the wedding. Our engagement party was in two weeks. After we finished eating we cleaned up and went upstairs, I sat down on his bed and he sat in front of me. “I want to tell you about that girl the other night” he spoke “Promise me you won’t judge?” his voice was husky, barely just a whisper. “I won’t I promise” I smiled kissing him softly. “Her name was Sophie, I met her through work she worked in my firm. We started dating about two years ago, it was all fine I thought I loved her. We slept together, and I found out she was pregnant. When I asked her how far along she was she lied to me. I found her report from the hospital, she was two months pregnant but we hadn’t done anything till a month before. The time line didn’t add up, it couldn’t have been mine. I asked her and she flipped out. She had been cheating on me the whole time. I told her to get out of my house. She did and on her way home she got into an accident and lost the baby. If I had known I would have never kicked her out. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. Now she hates me, she blames me and it is my fault. I haven’t seen her in six months. She moved firms and I never spoke to her again” a tear slipped out his eye and I brushed it away. “It wasn’t your fault. You were hurt, you couldn’t have known what was going to happen. That’s how life is things can change in a split second. Hey look at me” he lifted his head his eyes slightly red. “It doesn’t change anything, thank you for being honest with me” “Thank you, and honestly apart from her no other girlfriend drama. I dated a bit but nothing major” “My turn, I had one boyfriend he lived far away we met on a night out. He was nice to me but he just changed, I said I wouldn’t sleep with him. I wasn’t ready. It was like a switch went off he hurt me, pushed me kicked me. Said I was worthless and no guy would ever marry me, because I’m fat and ugly I was stupid. All I did was make cakes. To be honest his words hurt me more than anything else. He smashed a glass at the wall and pushed me down on the glass. Now I have a scar on my torso where it cut me. I look at it sometimes and think maybe he was right. But since I met you I have hope. Hope that someone will like me for me and the way I am. I know I’m not the smartest girl in the world but I’m me and I am happy with what I do. Apart from him there was no other boyfriends, I saw a few guys but they all said no because I was fat or that I didn’t have a good job” I didn’t realise I was crying till Rishi brushed my tears away. “Guess we have both been hurt huh?” he pulled my arm and I straddled him. “You are stunning, not fat not ugly. Beautiful. You are an amazing person, with a heart of gold I’ve seen it. That guy was a d**k. Your work is amazing and you’re so passionate about everything you do. I have hope too. That our lives will be full of love laughter and happiness. You are perfect” I wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him tight.
