Who IS My Mate?

Ares’s POV

When I get to my room, I change into some comfortable sweats and go lay in bed. I was in such a daze, so excited about the fact that I met my mate that I don’t think anything could bring me down from my personal high.

As I thought about who my mate could be, I started thinking about the ranked wolves and their of-age children, trying to jog my memory to possibly figure out who she was. I remembered that Alpha King Harmon had a daughter - obviously, I couldn’t forget that, my father only reminded me of that fact every day since I was about ten years old; though I have never seen her since I don’t follow the gossip magazines or human television networks that like to blast our personal lives for goddess and everyone to know about.

His beta Harold didn’t have any daughters, just sons, but his gamma did have a daughter that would be about 20 years old. I think her name was Anika if I remembered correctly. Was this my mate?

That’s when I realized that there was this glorious thing called ‘Google’! I quickly grabbed my phone off the nightstand and typed in Anika Clausen, Beta Harold Clausen’s daughter. I selected the images tab and immediately started looking through the photos. Anika has long platinum blonde hair, hazel eyes, and a pale complexion. Definitely not the gorgeous she-wolf I saw outside the ballroom.

Just as I was about to turn my phone off, a photo caught my eye. I clicked on it and reviewed the image. There were three she-wolves in the photo. They all appeared to be hugging each other laughing and smiling at some special event they attended. One of the females was Anika, and standing in the middle of the three of them was my mate! She was even more gorgeous than I remembered from my first glance. Her hair was long, past her shoulder blades, and had a slight wave towards the ends. Her eyes were so blue, I thought I could get lost in them. The shade of blue was undeniably unique and breathtaking. She looked like she had a nice tan and curves in all the right places. She looked like she could be a life-sized Barbie doll, all three of the girls did actually, which surprised me.

The other girl standing to the right of my mate looked like she could be a model. She was very tall and thin with dark brown hair and brown eyes. Her cheekbones and facial features just screamed textbook runway model. She was pretty, I would give her that, but she didn’t hold a candle to my mate!

As I continued drooling over the image, I looked for a caption and couldn’t find one, but when I clicked on the link to follow the image, it took me to an article from Entertainment Weekly Magazine. The article title was, ‘Princess Surprises Charity with Generous Contribution’. Fascinated by the photo and article, I began reading it. It explained that the Alpha King’s daughter, Princess Arianna, and her two friends, Anika Clausen and Alexia Stratford made a surprise appearance at the annual Children’s Miracle Network gala and while there, Arianna announced that she was donating 1.5 million dollars to the charity. I didn’t realize the Alpha King gave to charity. That’s when I saw the photo I had been looking at in the google image search and the caption below it read: ‘From Left to Right Pictured Above: Anika Clausen, Princess Arianna Erickson, Alexia Stratford’.

Ohhh….fuck.

My mate was none other than the Alpha King’s daughter, Arianna Erickson. After my initial freak out, I realized this was a blessing from the moon goddess! With me being Arianna’s mate, I would become the next Alpha King! My father would get his way, without actually waging a war! That would also mean he would have to find someone else to take over as alpha of the Freedom Ridge Pack, but I didn’t give a f**k! I would actually get to leave my father and never have to see him again. I would out-rank him in every capacity possible! He could no longer order me around and if he ever laid another hand on me, I could have him killed.

At that moment, I knew without a doubt I was going to claim Arianna and mate her. I couldn’t let anything get in the way of me and my happiness. She was my salvation.
