Fay ignored the people she loved. She went back to her roots. She decided to do a little walking tour to ground herself, so that she didn’t have to flee back to that drab office ever again. This was the heart of the problem, she thought. That she still saw life in an office job as real, and the life of her dreams as unreal.
The first place she went was the house of her heart. She ate dinner and washed dishes. She used her little window-image to leave a message for Belle, explaining what she was doing and why. Belle needed to know. Gilbert probably did too, so she asked Belle to tell him. That she was grounding herself. That she was trying hard to build a closer connection with the world that used to exist only in the moments between wakefulness and sleep.
