Prologue

I opened my eyes quickly, waking up in shock. My body felt so light, I doubted I was even touching the ground. With the vast expanse of green grass, this place felt completely foreign. The softly organized sounds tempted me to search for their source. I later found out that they didn't originate from one place, but spread throughout the whole place. I heard the very familiar sound of giggling. It was June's laughter, my sister! Then, I saw the three people consisting of my dad, mom, and June playing happily. “Hey!” I called out as I waved, approaching them with a smile on my face. My steps halted as the laughter gradually faded. The happiness that had been radiating earlier vanished instantly. I didn't know exactly what was going through their minds, but it was enough to understand that my presence here seemed unjustified. But why? “Go, Presley,” mom said slowly, as if she didn't want to hurt my heart with such an offensive remark. “ Mom...,” I mumbled under my breath. As if they didn't want to hear or see me, the three of them turned to leave. I was pensive for a moment before deciding to follow them. However, suddenly a set of fingers grabbed my wrist, gripping it as if unwilling to let me catch up with them. I turned around to find a sturdy arm pulling me back against his broad chest. He-who I assumed was a man-was wrapping an arm around my waist. I looked up, trying to figure out who it was that was holding me this tightly as if I would vanish if he let go. A pair of beautiful gray eyes greeted me, making me feel drowned just by looking at them. “Who are you?” I asked hesitantly. Instead of answering the question, he rubbed my cheek very gently. With a mesmerizing voice, the man said, “Always remember that no matter what happens, from now on you will always be with me.”
