I finally got to my feet, stumbling a little as the plane lurched, leaving its resting spot on the tarmac as we began to ferry out of the runway. My heart began to race, and my mouth went dry. “Fenris!” I cried, searching his face for anything. He stared out the window impassively. “They’re wrong, right? We’re not going to Antarctica, are we?” If he could hear me over the plane’s engine, he didn’t reply. Piers reached up, gently grabbing my arm to try and coax me back down. “You aren’t going to be wanting to stand when we take off,” he reminded me gently.
