I gave the bowl an accusing look, holding my hand against my chest. Strangely, the wound didn’t hurt. I looked back, trying to determine what I’d sliced myself on when the water shifted and turned a strange color. Before I could lean closer, it erupted into flame. “Holy crap!” I shrieked, stumbling, and falling backward. The flames crackled, burning bright white as they shot higher, seemingly fed by the water somehow. My heart pounded in my chest, and I forgot all about my cut as I scrambled backward. I could already feel the heat licking at my face. “Help!” I screamed, unable to get off the floor. No matter how hard I struggled, it felt like my limbs each weighed a ton. “Help!
